Tigers lose, tie over weekend

The Dakota Wesleyan women's soccer team is 0-1-1 after the opening weekend of the regular season.

The Tigers lost 4-0 to College of St. Mary and went 2-2 with Westminster College (Mo.) after two overtimes.

In the loss, goalkeeper Erika Carpenter made 19 saves and the Tigers had six shots on goal to the Flames' 23 shots on goal.

In the tie, DWU scored both of its goals in the second half of regulation. DWU's first goal was a result of a Westminster player knocking the ball into its own net. Thara Ali Said scored the team's second goal.

Neither team scored in the first or second overtime period. Carpenter made seven saves.

DWU hosts Presentation College at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
