Tigers win two at classic

The Dakota Wesleyan volleyball team opened the DWU Corn Palace Classic with two wins Friday.

DWU beat York College 25-21, 25-17, 25-12 in its opening match Friday morning.

DWU’s Mallory Jark led in kills with a game-high 14 and added six blocks. Taylor Spence had nine kills, Briana Jung recorded 26 assists and eight digs. Maggie Stehly had a game-high 16 digs in the win.

In its second match, DWU topped Valley City State 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-20. Taylor Spencer, Sarah Kruse and Jark had 13, 10 and 12 kills.

The DWU Corn Palace Classic continues today and the Tigers face College of St. Mary and Dakota State University at 1 and 7 p.m.

DWU women in 4th after first day

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Dakota Wesleyan women’s golf team is in fourth place after the first round of the Mount Mercy Fall Invitational.

The Tigers shot a 340 Friday and William Penn University leads the pack with a 324. DWU Lauren Fitts and Chelsea Burback are tied for seventh after shooting 83s.
