Honkers split over weekend in Rapid

RAPID CITY — The Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake baseball team split over the weekend, falling to St. Thomas More 4-3 and beating Lead/Deadwood 8-0.

Coby Johnson suffered the loss in the opening game, giving up one run on one hit in 1/3 of an inning. Allen Muilenburg started and gave up three runs on five hits and had five strikeouts in six innings for the Honkers (7-3). Nate Spawn led offensively with two hits and an RBI.

Against Lead/Deadwood, Spawn was the winning pitcher, giving up one hit while striking out seven in six innings. Johnson had three hits, while Spawn, Hayden Thiry and Colton Plooster each had two hits.

The Honkers host Chamberlain at 6 p.m. today in Platte.
