DWU baseball falls in road game

ST. PETER, Minn. — The Tiger baseball team lost to Gustavus Adolphus College 15-6 Monday.

DWU gave up seven runs in the first two innings and Alex Meyer took the loss on the mound. He gave up five earned runs on six hits in 1 1/3 innings.

Sam Schumacher went 2-for-3, Cole Wenande went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Michael Johnson went 1-for-2 with two RBIs in the loss.

The Tigers fell to 21-20 on the season and play North Dakota State University at 5 p.m. today in Fargo, N.D.

Parkston sweeps Hanson County

ALEXANDRIA — The Parkston baseball team swept Hanson County Monday.

The Trojans won the first game 10-2 and the second 8-5.

In the opener, Jacob Weber was the winning pitcher, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out six in six innings. The losing pitcher was Marshall Miller, who gave up six runs on seven hits while striking out six in five innings.

Parkston’s Ty Kinneberg went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Spencer Lucas went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Zach Scott went 1-for-3 with four RBI and a home run. Wyatt Kayser went 2-for-2 in the loss.

In the second game, Dillon Stadlman was awarded the win, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out five in five innings. Josh Feiner took the loss, giving up five runs on four hits in 2 1/3 innings.

Weber went 2-for-2 with five RBI and two doubles and Cole Donahue had a home run for Parkston (5-0). Aaron Wenande and Miller each had two hits for Hanson County (6-5).

DWU men take 7th at qualifier

HASTINGS, Neb. — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s golf team took seventh at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Qualifier No. 3 Monday, recording a 319.

Nebraska Wesleyan won the meet with a 296, while NWU’s Rory Doll claimed the individual title with a 71. DWU’s highest finisher was Austin Hieb, who tied for sixth with a 76.

After three rounds, NWU leads the team race by six strokes with a 922 and DWU is in seventh with 974.

Bon Homme sweeps EPJ

ELK POINT — The Bon Homme baseball team swept Elk Point-Jefferson in a doubleheader Monday.

The Cavaliers won 8-1 and 11-1.

Scott Wieseler was the winning pitcher in the opening game, throwing four shutout innings. Chase Kortan had a triple and two singles in the opener.

In the second game, Kortan got the win on the mound, allowing one run and striking out seven in four innings. Wieseler had a double, a single and scored three runs, while Kortan had a triple and three RBIs.

Bon Homme (6-2) hosts Dakota Valley at 5:30 p.m. in Tabor.
