4 MAC swimmers qualify at B meet

ABERDEEN — The Mitchell Aquatic Club had four swimmers qualify for the state meet over the weekend at the South Dakota Swimming B Championship Meet in Aberdeen.

Josh Brooks qualified in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle in the boys 17-19 age group. Jilian Ebert qualified in the 50 and 100 freestyle, 200 IM and 200 breaststroke in the girls 13-14 age group. In the girls 9-10 age group, Lauren Scott qualified in the 50 and 100 butterfly and Jayda Walton qualified in the 50 backstroke.

MAC, which placed fifth as a team, also had six swimmers win events, including Jakob Studer, Lucie Anderson, Taylor Studer, Ethan Huber, Scott and Walton.

MAC has 21 swimmers participating in the state swim meet, which is this weekend in Spearfish.

6 youth place at archery tourney

Six trophies were awarded to youth at the Stump Shooters Archery Club indoor 3-D shoot over the weekend at the Mitchell National Guard Armory.

In the girls’ division, Anna Anderson, of Sioux Falls, took first place and was followed by Bailey Cole, of Sioux Falls, and Makayla Werkmeister, of Mitchell.

Kayden Kummer, of Sioux Falls, won the boys’ division. Cole Mentele, of Howard, finished second and Nathan Gauer, of Huron, took third.

No awards were presented to adults, but Dustin, Weier, of Mitchell, posted the highest score with 400 of 400.

There were a total of 122 participants at the shoot.
