GREGORY — The Gregory boys’ basketball team beat Crazy Horse 100-40 Saturday.

Gregory was led by Damon Eagle Star had 21 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Gavin Thomas chipped in with 19 points, while Sam Voigt had 14 points and Mason Juracek added 13 points.

Gregory was 39-of-79 from the field.

Crazy Horse was led by Jesse Brewer, who recorded 15 points. The Chiefs was 14-of-52 from the field and 17 rebounds.

Gregory (2-1) plays Mount Vernon/Plankinton Jan. 3 in Plankinton, while CH (0-1) plays Lower Brule Jan. 10 in Wanblee.

ALEXANDRIA — Taylor Nichols had 16 points to help the Hanson boys’ basketball team beat Avon 65-42 Saturday.

Jordan Marquart chipped in with 15 points and five assists for the Beavers, who were 25-of-55 from the field.

Sam Vander Stouwe tallied 13 points for Hanson, which grabbed 36 rebounds.

Avon was led by Logan Mudder, who had 20 points and six rebounds.

Jacob Knodel chipped in eight points. Avon grabbed 33 rebounds and was 11-of-17 from free-throw line.

Hanson won the JV game 43-25.

Avon (0-2) hosts Parkston Friday in Avon, while Hanson (4-0) plays Marion in Marion.

James Valley Christian 79, Kimball/White Lake 53

WHITE LAKE — The James Valley Christian boys’ basketball team beat Kimball/White Lake 79-53.

James Valley Christian was led by Alex Waldner, Andrew Ulvestad and Nathan Wedel.

Waldner had 21 points and nine rebounds, while Ulvestad had 20 points and Wedel had 19 points and seven rebounds.

KWL was led by Eathen Gaulke, who had 25 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. Corbin Heath added nine points, while Noah Munsen had seven points.

The WiLdKats shot 36 percent from the field and grabbed 38 rebounds.

JVC won the JV game 48-27.

KWL (0-4) plays Jones County Dec. 30 at the Holiday Classic in Colome, while JVC (2-0) plays at the Parkston Classic Dec. 30.

Lyman 59, Bennett County 39

MARTIN — The Lyman boys’ basketball team came away with its first victory of the season, topping Bennett County 59-39 Saturday in Martin.

The Raiders were led by Alex Terca with a game-high 13 points, while Trey Mundlien finished with 11 points in the win.

Harvey Hoogendoorn grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for Lyman, which shot 23-of-57 from the field and 12-of-22 from the free-throw line. As a team the Raiders had 19 steals and forced 24 turnovers.

BC was led by Gassem Belhage-Shangreaux with 12 points.

BURKE — Stuart (Neb.) topped Burke/South Central 54-36 in boys’ high school basketball action Saturday in Burke.

The Cougars were led by Dell Brey with 14 points and six rebounds, while Sam Hazen added eight points and five rebounds.

As a team, BSC shot 16-of-34 from the field and committed 20 turnovers.

Stuart was led by Mitchell Dvorak, who poured in a game-high 18 points.

BSC plays Timber Lake in the Rotary Classic Saturday in Mobridge.

Wagner 74, Dakota Christian 30

NEW HOLLAND — The Wagner boys’ basketball team topped Dakota Christian 74-30 Saturday in New Holland.

The Red Raiders had three players score in double figures, led by Noah St. Pierre with 15. Chris Kuca added 14 points, while Derek Soukup chipped in 12 points and five rebounds.

Michael Maas led the Cadets with eight points and eight rebounds. Micah DeWaard added a game-high nine rebounds for DC.

The Red Raiders shot 26-of-54 from the field and 16-of-29 from the free-throw line, while the Cadets made 11-of-33 field goals and made 7-of-11 free throws. The DC outrebounded Wagner 25 to 22, while the Red Raiders won the turnover battle 22 to 9.

Wagner (1-1) won the JV game 70-35 and plays Burke/South Central Jan. 7 in Wagner. DC (0-3) plays Hanson Jan. 9 in Alexandria.

EMERY — The Bridgewater-Emery boys’ basketball team topped Tripp-Demont/Armour 49-45 Saturday in Emery.

BURKE — The Burke/South Central girls’ basketball team topped Stuart (Neb.) 58-50 Saturday in Burke.

The Cougars were led by Lexi Fernau with 12 points, while Jenny Higgins added eight in the win. Micaela Frank pulled down a team-high six rebounds for BSC.

Stuart was led by Haily Paxton with a game-high 14 points.

The Cougars had 22 rebounds and 20 turnovers as a team in the game.

BSC (2-2) won the JV 53-15 and plays Kimball/White Lake in the first round of the Holiday Classic Dec. 30 in Colome.

ETHAN — Three Rustlers scored in double figures to push the Ethan girls’ basketball team past Scotland 66-36 Saturday in Ethan.

Ethan was led by freshman Ellie Hohn with 17 points and five steals. Freshman Kacey Bartscher added 15 points, while junior forward Darbi Gustafson added 13 points and five rebounds in the win for the Rustlers.

Scotland was led by junior Carley Skorepa with 14 points and five rebounds.

The Rustlers shot 25-of- 57 from the field and 11-of-20 from the free-throw line. Scotland was 12-of-27 from the field and -9 from the free-throw line.

Ethan (3-1) won the JV game 30-25 and plays Groton Area at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Parkston Classic in Parkston. Scotland (1-3) plays Corsica/Stickney Dec. 30. in Stickney.

Dakota Christian 67, Wagner 53

NEW HOLLAND — Brooklyn Vander Pol scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double to led the Dakota Christian girls’ basketball team to a 67-53 win over Wagner Saturday in New Holland.

The Cadets (4-1) led by one going into the fourth quarter before pulling away. Kennedy Muckey added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Abbi BaanHofman pulled down 10 prebounds in the win.

Three Red Raiders finished in double figures, led by Gina Soukup with 16 points and Ali Kuca with 13. Emily Brunsing had a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Soukup added five steals and five assists.

DC shot 22-of-50 from the field and 21-of-30 from the free-throw line, while Wagner finished 18-of-60 from the field and 11-of-21 from the free-throw line.

DC plays Mount Vernon/Plankinton Jan. 2 in Plankinton, while Wagner (0-3) plays Tri-Valley Saturday in the Parkston classic in Parkston.

TYNDALL — The Centerville girls’ basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a 55-53 victory over Bon Homme Saturday in Tyndall.

The Cavaliers (2-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Kelsey Sutera with 17 points. Emily Pechous finished with a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Liz Kubal scored 12 points in the loss.

Shannon O’Malley poured in a game-high 20 points for Centerville, while Carleigh Oster added 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Bon Homme shot 24-of-59 from the field and 4 –of-12 from the free-throw line.

The Cavaliers play Irene-Wakonda Friday in Tyndall, while Centerville (1-4) will be at the Parkston Classic Saturday in Parkston.

SIOUX FALLS — The Avon girls’ basketball team topped Irene-Wakonda 63-36 Saturday in Sioux Falls.

Chesney Nagel finished with a double-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for Avon. Nagel added five assists and four steals. Ariana Oorlog added 18 points, while Heidi Capp finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and four steals.

Caitlin Hinseth scored a team-high 10 points for IW.

The Pirates shot 23-of-53 from the field and 14-of-19 from the free-throw line. Avon outrebounded IW 33 to 17 as a team.

The Pirates (4-0) play Alcester-Hudson Jan. 3 in Avon.

EMERY — The Bridgewater-Emery girls’ basketball team won its first game of the season, topping Tripp-Delmont/Armour 49-28 Saturday in Emery.

Tiana Kayser finished with a double-double for the Huskies, scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Justine Dye had a game-high 18 points and five steals in the win.

TDA was led by Hannah Just with 15 points and five steals, while Jessica Sandau pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds for the Nighthawks.

The Huskies shot 21-of-56 from the field and outrebounded the Nighthawks 33 to 27. TDA shot 9-of-46 from the field.

BE (1-3) won the JV game and plays Esterline in the Swiftel Classic Dec. 30 in Brookings, while TDA (1-4) plays Andes Central Jan. 4 in Armour.
