Platte-Geddes 3, Corsica/ Stickney 1

KIMBALL — Josie DeGroot recorded a double-double to help the Platte-Geddes Black Panthers beat the Corsica/Stickney Jaguars Thursday in District 12B semifinal action.

Set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 26-24.

DeGroot had 20 kills and 20 digs for the Black Panthers. Shelby Johnson added nine kills and 18 digs, while Brianna Erickson had 20 digs and eight kills. Madi Whalen chipped in with three aces, 23 assists and two blocks.

Corsica/Stickney was led by Jackie Dethlefsen, who recorded 14 kills, four blocks and four aces.

Rachel Milligan added 36 assists for the Jaguars, while Hope Menning had 13 digs, and Brittni Moke had 10 digs.

Platte-Geddes (14-13) advances to face Kimball/White Lake in the District 11B championship. Corsica/Stickney ends its season 7-18.

Kimball/White Lake 3, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 0

KIMBALL — The No. 1 Kimball/White Lake WiLdKats beat No. 4. Tripp-Delmont/Armour in three sets Thursday at the District 11B volleyball tournament.

Set scores were 25-16, 25-20, 25-4.

Mary Kroupa had 22 assists and four aces to lead K/WL. Ivy Haines added 12 kills and two blocks, while Jazmyn Hinker tallied eight kills and 11 digs and Haley Pazour had nine kills in the win.

Becca Brown and Jessica Sandau each had four kills to lead the way for TDA.

Brown also recorded 12 digs, while Hannah Just had three aces.

KWL (17-7) plays Platte-Geddes in the District 11B championship. TDA ends its season 4-21.

Gregory 3, Burke/South Central 1

COLOME — Courtney Opbroek tallied 18 kills and five aces to help lead the Gregory Gorillas to a four-set victory over Burke/South Central Thursday in the District 12B championship.

Set scores were 25-20, 25-11, 18-25, 25-17.

McKenzie Odenbach chipped in with eight kills, while Brett Steffen had 29 assists and Codi Horst had 18 digs. Brianna Leber added 11 digs.

Grace Hazen recorded a double-double to lead the way for the Cougars. Hazen tallied 10 kills and 11 digs.

Sierra Votaw chipped in with six kills and eight blocks, Bailey Matucha had 13 digs and Shailhyn Schweigert had 17 assists.

Gregory (14-15) advances to Region 6B volleyball tournament Tuesday.

Burke/South Central ends its season 6-23.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton 3, Parkston 1

PLANKINTON — Mikayla Weiss had 30 assists, 18 digs and two aces to help Mount Vernon/Plankinton beat Parkston 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 25-19, Thursday at the Region 5A volleyball tournament.

Megan Bultsma chipped in with five blocks and 12 kills, while Jazmin Waite, Dani Stoltz, Jordan Achterberg each had nine kills. Kallyn Prangley added 36 digs for MVP.

Whitney Weber had 21 assists, 27 digs and three aces to pace Parkston. Laura Weiss added seven blocks and 10 kills, while Kenzie Lee had eight kills. Hailey Heisinger added three aces and four blocks.

MVP (24-4) hosts Wagner in the Region 5A championship 7 p.m. Tuesday in Plankinton.

Parkston ends its season 17-13.

Winner 3, Chamberlain 0

WINNER — The No. 1 Winner Warriors beat the No. 4 Chamberlain Cubs in three sets Thursday at the Region 6A volleyball tournament.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-18, 25-9.

Winner was led by Cassidy Hanson. Hanson recorded 12 kills, eight digs and one ace. Tawny Sherman added eight kills and one dig, while Lindsey Calhoon had eight kills, 21 digs and one ace.

Sara Husher chipped in with 37 assists.

Kennedy Wagner led the way for Chamberlain. She tallied seven kills, two blocks, seven assists, and nine digs. Brigitte Byrd added 11 digs and two aces, while Abbey Handel had three kills, seven assists and eight digs.

Winner (24-3) advances to the Region 6A championship Tuesday in Ft. Pierre. Chamberlain ends its season 8-20.

Lyman 3, White River 0

KADOKA — The Lyman high school volleyball team topped White River in three sets to claim the district 13B championship Thursday in Kadoka.

The set scores were 25-21, 25-14, 25-21.

The No. 1 Raiders (23-8) were led by Ann Flitner with 16 kills and 11 digs, while Jessica Welter added 11 kills and four blocks. Brooklyn Halverson contributed six aces for Lyman

Hanna Thiry racked up a team-high 17 assists for the Raiders in the win.

Lyman will move on to play in the winner of district 14B Tuesday at a site to be determined.

Wagner 3, Tri-Valley 1

WAGNER — No. 2 Wagner advanced to the finals of the Region 5A state playoffs with a four-set win over No. 3 Tri-Valley in high school volleyball action Thursday in Wagner.

The set scores were 25-16, 16-25, 25-23, 25-16.

The Red Raiders (25-6) were led by Kim Koupal with 20 kills and 27 digs, while Gina Soukup contributed 15 kills in the win.

Kayla Deurmier put up a game-high 46 assists for the Red Raiders, and Brooklyn Tolliver added 22 digs.

Wagner moves on the Region 5A final to play a familiar foe in No. 1 Mount Vernon/Plankinton at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Plankinton. The teams have split two matches earlier this season.

Hanson 3, Mitchell Christian 2

ALEXANDRIA — No. 1 Hanson advanced to the District 8B final after holding off No. 4 Mitchell Christian in five sets in high school volleyball action Thursday in Alexandria.

The set scores were 23-25, 25-18, 25-10, 16-25, 15-9.

Kyendi Cheesman led Hanson to its 19th straight win with 25 kills and 19 digs, while Sydney Dodd added 15 kills and 11 digs in the win.

Hailey Doyle racked up 27 assists, while Emily Brown added 24 assists for the Beavers.

Mitchell Christian got 12 kills and 14 digs from Abbie Reynen, while Ashley Schmidt added 10 kills and seven blocks in the loss.

Hanson (23-1) moves on to play Ethan at 7 p.m. today in Alexandria for the District 8B title.

Mitchell Christian ends its season with a record of 13-11.

Parker 3, Freeman Academy 0

SCOTLAND — The No. 4 Freeman Academy volleyball team saw its season end with a three-set loss to No. 1 Parker in the semifinals of the District 9B Thursday in Scotland.

The set scores were 25-13, 25-19, 25-13.

Freeman Academy got five kills and eight blocks from Hannah Yoder, while Polly Carlson added three kills and seven digs in the loss.

Parker was led by Allison Sanner with 13 kills and 13 digs, while Jenny Smith recorded a match-high 32 assists.

Freeman Academy’s season ends with a record of 8-13, while Parker (24-3) moves on to play Scotland at 7 p.m. today for the District 9B title in Scotland.

Scotland 3, Marion 0

SCOTLAND — Scotland moved on to the District 9B title game with a three-set semifinal win over Marion Thursday in Scotland.

The set scores were 25-23, 25-17, 25-21.

The No. 3 Highlanders were led by Carly Skorepa with 16 kills and nine digs, while Kayla Rokusek added eight kills in the win. Amber Alvey racked up a match-high 25 assists for Scotland.

No. 2 Marion got 12 kills and 11 digs from Erica Schoenwald, while Kaitlyn Engbrecht added 25 digs and 11 assists for the Bears.

Marion’s season ends with a record of 15-10. While Scotland moves on to play Parker in the District 9B finals at 7 p.m. today in Scotland.

Wolsey-Wessington 3, Wessington Springs 2

HURON — The No 3. Wessington Springs Spartans fell in five sets to the No. 2 Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds Thursday in the District 6B volleyball tournament.

Set scores were 25-19, 22-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-10.

Shyanne Kopfmann had 12 kills for the Spartans, while Sheyanne Brodkorb had nine kills and 15 digs.

Lexi Olinger chipped in with 18 assists and Devin Tebay added nine blocks. Monica Jones added 13 digs, while Morgan Tebay had 11 assists in the loss.

Wolsey-Wessington was led by Brittany Bergquist, who recorded 15 kills and 10 blocks.

Ashley Eggleston added 22 digs, Abbey Tschette had seven blocks and eight kills for the Warbirds.

Wessington Springs ends its season 8-18. Wolsey-Wessington (13-11) plays Sanborn Central/Woonsocket in the District 6B championship 7 p.m. in Huron.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 3, Iroquois 0

HURON — Marissa Weber recorded a double-double to help No. 1 Sanborn Central/Woonsocket defeat No. 4 Iroquois in three sets Thursday at the District 6B volleyball tournament.

Set scores were 27-25, 25-16, 25-17.

Weber tallied 12 kills and 11 digs, she also had four aces. Myah Selland chipped in with seven kills and two blocks, while Rachel Selland had nine digs, 19 assists and two aces.

Iroquois was led by Kelsey Blue. Blue tallied four kills and 18 assists. Allison Bich added seven kills, while Britney Moller had four kills and three blocks.

Iroquois ends its season 6-23, while SC/W (16-10) plays Wolsey-Wessington in the District 6B championship at 7 p.m. in Huron.

Ethan 3, Bridgewater-Emery 0

ALEXANDRIA — Darbi Gustafson recorded 13 kills and nine digs to help the No. 2 Ethan Rustlers beat the No. 3 Bridgewater-Emery Huskies in three sets Thursday at the District 8B volleyball tournament.

Set scores were 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.

Anna Mueller added 10 kills and seven digs for the Rustlers. Holley Lindeman chipped in with 31 assists and eight digs. Rachel Hawkins had six kills and eight digs and Kayce McGuire had eight digs and four aces.

Justine Dye led the way for the Huskies. Dye tallied seven kills and seven digs, while Tiana Kayser had five kills. Aly Hanssen added 16 assists, Chesney Arend had 22 digs and Shelbee Schultz had 10 digs.

Bridgewater-Emery ends its season 16-9, while Ethan (19-6) plays Hanson in the District 8B championship 7 p.m. tonight in Alexandria.
