MHS final home football game to honor seniors

During the Mitchell Kernel football team’s final home game, seniors and their parents will be recognized before the game Thursday at Joe Quintal Field.

Senior football players, cheerleaders and dancers, along with their parents, will be recognized at 6:50 p.m. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.

Senior band members and flag corps members and their parents will be recognized at halftime.

Kernel 7th-grade football teams go undefeated

The Mitchell Kernel seventh-grade A and B teams each went 7-0 this season.

There were 47 kids who went out and the coaches were Paul Nelson, Jim Bauder and Mike Mohr.

“What a great group of kids,” Nelson said. “They are really self-motivated and did a great job this year.”

The teams played doubleheaders and earned wins over Harrisburg, Yankton, Brookings, Sioux Falls O’Gorman, Aberdeen, Brandon Valley and Huron.

The A team gave up points in just two of its seven games.

Winter storm relocates SD state cross country meet

Due to damage from this month’s winter storm at the Elks Club Golf Course in Rapid City, the South Dakota High School Activities Association state cross country meet will be relocated.

The meet, which is Oct. 26, will be held at Robbinsdale Park in Rapid City.
