New Underwood stifles Lyman comeback

PRESHO — Lyman stormed back from 28 points down to tie New Underwood, but eventually fell 40-30 in high school football action Saturday in Presho.

New Underwood took a 28-0 lead into the half. Lyman stormed out of the locker room and put up 30 unanswered points to take a brief lead.

New Underwood’s Travis Smith scored two of his five rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Smith finished with 253 yards rushing.

Korder Cropsey led the Raiders with 128 yards on 30 carries and scored three touchdowns in the loss.

Lyman quarterback Trey Mundlien finished with 97 yards rushing and another 75 through the air. Mundlien gave the Raiders the lead in the fourth quarter on a 56-yard touchdown run.

Lyman will attempt to end its five-game losing streak against Kadoka Area at 6 p.m. Friday in Presho.
