Area high school football roundup 10/12/13: Hanson earns first win

ALEXANDRIA — Jacob Paradeis had 24 carries for 254 yards and four touchdowns to lead Hanson to its first victory of the season over Menno/Marion 46-20 Friday in high school football action.

Mason Mayer had 14 carries for 141 yards for Hanson, which had 470 total yards. Paradeis and Sam VanderStouwe each had 11 tackles. Ryan Guericke had nine tackles and Aaron Wenande had two interceptions. Levi Doyle also had an interception.

Nick Gortmaker had 18 carries for 109 yards for the Razorbacks, who had 442 rushing yards in the game. He was 2-of-13 for 10 yards. Chet Peterson had 10 tackles and Dustin Lehr had an interception.

Hanson (1-5) plays at Freeman Friday, while Menno/Marion (3-3) plays Mount Vernon/Plankinton Friday in Menno.

ARMOUR — Howard had 264 rushing yards en route to defeating Tripp-Delmont/Armour 51-0 Friday in high school football action.

The game ended in the third quarter due to the mercy rule.

Luke Loudenburg had 110 yards rushing, while Jordan Kuhle had 104 yards rushing to lead Howard. Gunner Gilbertson threw for 21 yards and leading receiver was Kuhle with 14 yards. Nick Pardy led the Tigers defensively with 14 tackles.

Shane Koster had 21 yards rushing for the Nighthawks. Tanner Nuss and Tanner Carda each had five tackles in the loss.

Howard (6-0) hosts Canistota Friday, while Tripp-Delmont/Armour (1-5) hosts Burke/South Central Friday in Armour.

BRIDGEWATER — Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan earned its sixth win of the season, beating Freeman 56-6 Friday in a game that ended in the third quarter because of the mercy rule.

Wade Miller had 15 carries for 149 yards and three touchdowns, while Jordan Grosdidier had 11 carries for 121 yards and two scores. Ethan Riggs and Camden Myer each had nine tackles in the win.

Cole Paulson completed 9 of 13 passes for 87 yards for Freeman. Joseph Weier had 13 tackles for the Fylers and Avery Sage had 12 tackles.

The Seahawks (6-1) play Kimball/White Lake in Kimball, while Freeman (0-6) hosts Hanson Friday.

WINNER — Sam Naasz ran for 111 yards and one touchdown on four carries to help the Winner Warriors beat Mobridge-Pollock 50-0 Friday. The game ended in the third quarter due to mercy rule.

Winner, the top ranked team in Class 11B, got help from Trace Meyer and Nick Hossle. Meyer rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. He also had five tackles. Hossle added 68 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Forrest Cerv recorded two interceptions to lead the Winner defense.

Mobridge-Pollock quarterback Mason Keller was 6-for-13 in passing for 41 yards and three interceptions.

Winner (6-0) plays Crow Creek Friday in Crow Creek. Mobridge-Pollock (2-4) hosts Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Friday in Mobridge.

WAGNER — Scott Van Winkle scored twice in Bon Homme’s 24-13 victory over Wagner Friday in high school football action.

Dakota Bodden completed 6 of 18 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 175 yards on 23 carries in the win. Chase Kortan had 44 receiving yards on three receptions.

Wagner’s Dylan Brunsing threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns on 11-for-27 passing. Noah St. Pierre had three catches for 102 yards and two scores. David Kocer had a team-high 10 tackles.

Bon Homme (4-2) plays at Elk Point-Jefferson Friday, while Wagner (4-2) plays at Canton Friday.

AVON — The Avon Pirates rushed for 386 yards en route to beating Marty Indian 70-12 Friday.

Running back Brandon Kocmich tallied 179 yards and three touchdowns on five carries to lead the way for Avon. All three of Kocmich’s touchdowns were on runs of more than 30 yards. He also returned an interception for a score.

Devin Tolsma had 92 rushing yards and one touchdown for the Pirates, who are ranked atop the Class 9B. Jacob Knodel led the Avon receivers, hauling in two passes for 42 yards and one touchdown.

Hunter Chalmers led the way for Marty Indian with 58 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Avon (7-0) hosts Andes Central Oct. 24, while Marty Indian (0-6) plays Scotland Friday in Scotland.

PARKSTON — The Parkston football team churned out 284 yards on the ground en route to defeating Tri-Valley 21-0 Friday.

Parkston got contributions on the ground from Andrew Semmler, Blake Bietz, Wes Dvorak and Mitch Heisinger. Semmler ran 11 times for 75 yards and a touchdown, Bietz had five carries for 68 yards and one touchdown and Heisinger added 40 yards rushing. Dvorak ran eight times for 56 yards and caught a 58-yard touchdown pass.

Heisinger had seven tackles to lead the Parkston defense, while Austin Bertram and Brady Reiff each had five tackles.

Nick Buchman had 16 carries for 108 yards to lead Tri-Valley.

SCOTLAND — Turner Serr rushed for 239 yards and three touchdowns to help Burke/South Central beat Scotland 41-6.

Serr also had 187 receiving yards and 12 tackles for the Cougars. Burke/South Central quarterback Zack Sebern threw for 110 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a touchdown.

Scotland was led by Alex Kotalik, who rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown. Scotland quarterback Shaye Bloch finished with 68 passing yards.

The Cougars (4-2) play Tripp-Delmont/Armour Friday in Armour, while Scotland (3-4) hosts Marty Indian Friday in Scotland.

CANISTOTA — The Hofer brothers combined for 294 rushing yards to help Canistota beat Mount Vernon/Plankinton 48-12 Friday.

Nick Hofer tallied 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Carson Hofer rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown. Nick Hofer also had nine tackles and one interception. Jacob Buseman and Colton Golder also had nine tackles apiece, while Canistota quarterback Shay Jolley threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

Deric Denning led the way for Mount Vernon/Plankinton, rushing for 126 yards and one touchdown on nine attempts.

Canistota (3-3) plays at Howard Friday, while MVP (1-5) plays Menno/Marion Friday in Menno.

For Andes Central, Chris Bad Hand had five carries for 43 yards and Zach Cournoyer had 12 tackles.
