Area high school volleyball roundup: Wessington Springs falls to Titans in three

PLANKINTON — Kallyn Prangley recorded 22 digs as Mount Vernon/Plankinton defeated Wessington Springs in three sets Tuesday in high school volleyball action.

Set scores were 25-14, 25-18, 25-20.

Mikayla Weiss had five aces and 26 assists, Dani Stoltz recorded 12 kills and Jordan Achterberg tallied five blocks.

Sheyanne Brodkorb led the Spartans with 11 digs and five kills, while Shyanne Kopfmann had four aces and eight kills for the Spartans. Lexi Olinger recorded seven assists, Morgan Tebay had eight assists and Devin Tebay tallied three blocks.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton (10-2) plays at a Marion tournament Saturday, while Wessington Springs (5-10) plays Highmore-Harrold in a 281 Conference game Thursday.

Kimball/White Lake 3, Mitchell Christian 0

WHITE LAKE — Haley Pazour recorded a team-high seven kills in Kimball/White Lake’s three-set win over Mitchell Christian Tuesday in a high school volleyball match.

Set scores were 25-21, 25-18, 25-19.

Ivy Haines, Kelli Steffen and Brooklyn Donald each had five kills in the win. Mary Kroupa added 22 assists, Jazmyn Hinker had 12 digs and Anna Pazour recorded 12 digs.

Emily Schrag recorded 10 digs, 18 assists and one ace in the loss. Ellie Bleeker had 12 digs, Emily Reynen had eight kills and Abbie Reynen tallied six kills and 12 digs. Cassidy Graham added eight kills for Mitchell Christian.

The WiLdKats (9-5) won the JV game and play Hanson Thursday in Alexandria, while Mitchell Christian (6-9) plays at Avon Monday.

Platte-Geddes 3, Dakota Christian 0

PLATTE — Madi Whalen had three aces and 10 assists to lift Platte-Geddes to a 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 win over Dakota Christian Tuesday in a high school volleyball match.

Josie DeGroot had nine kills, two blocks and two digs in the win, while Kiera Hubers added five kills and one block. Brianna Erickson had one block and seven assists.

Kennedy Muckey had two aces, four kills, two blocks and eight digs for the Cadets. Rheanna Pheifer had one ace and 12 digs, while Katie Berens added two kills and 10 assists.

Platte-Geddes (5-5) plays Lyman Thursday in Platte, while Dakota Christian plays Marty.

Ethan 3, Bridgewater-Emery 0

ETHAN — The Ethan volleyball team earned its 14th win of the season after beating Bridgewater-Emery 25-15, 25-20, 25-14 Tuesday.

Darbi Gustafson had 12 kills and three blocks for Ethan. Morgan Tuttle had eight kills, Aliea KretschmerWebster had five kills and Kaycee McGuire had six aces and 13 digs.

Rachel Hawkins had three aces and 11 digs, Kacey Bartscher tallied 12 digs and Holley Lindeman added 21 assists.

For the Huskies, Justine Dye and Tiana Kayser had three kills apiece. Chesney Arend tallied 19 digs and Aly Hanssen had four assists in the loss.

Ethan (14-4) won the JV match and plays Freeman Thursday in Ethan.

Bridgewater-Emery (7-7) at the Marion tournament Saturday.

Gregory 3, White River 1

GREGORY — Brett Steffen recorded 20 assists, one block and three aces in Gregory’s 25-8, 19-25, 25-11, 25-9 victory over White River Tuesday.

Courtney Opbroek added 13 kills and 11 digs for the Gorillas, while Codi Horst tallied 14 digs and three aces.

Sidney Bechtold had six kills to lead White River.

Gregory (7-8) won the JV match and plays at Chamberlain Thursday.

Avon 3, Scotland 1

AVON — Avon defeated Scotland 3-1 in a high school volleyball match Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-23, 16-25, 29-27, 25-12.

Ariana Oorlog recorded 11 digs, eight kills, two blocks and four aces for the Pirates. Hanna Powers tallied a team-high 14 assists and had five digs and four aces. Lea Wormsbecher added eight digs in the win.

For the Highlanders, Carley Skorepa led offensively with 16 kills and added 13 digs, two blocks and two aces. Amber Alvey had a game-high 24 assists, 12 digs and three kills.

Jaycie Geiman and Lindsey Frey each had 13 digs in the loss.

Avon (6-6) plays in the Marion tournament Saturday, while Scotland (5-6) plays at Parkston Thursday.

Dakota Valley 3, Bon Homme 0

TYNDALL — The No. 2-ranked Dakota Valley volleyball team topped Bon Homme 25-14, 25-13, 27-25 Tuesday.

For Bon Homme, Vanessa Navratil had 14 digs, Kelsey Sutera recorded five kills and 10 digs and Morgan Rothschadl tallied 10 digs. Alie Adams added eight assists in the loss.

Dakota Valley was led by Jayde Bergmann with 11 kills.

Bon Homme (11-5) won the JV and C matches and plays Menno Thursday in Tyndall.

Winner 3, Todd County 0

MISSION — Sara Husher had 17 assists, five digs, three aces and four kills to lead No. 3 Winner over Todd County 3-0 Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-18, 25-16, 25-7.

Cassidy Hanson recorded a team-best six kills and 10 digs in the win, while Emily Richey added a team-high 12 digs.

Winner (16-2) hosts No. 4 Wagner Thursday.

Miller 3, Chamberlain 2

CHAMBERLAIN — The Chamberlain volleyball team fell to Miller in five sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 19-25, 25-17, 18-25, 25-20, 15-10.

Kennedy Wagner recorded 16 kills, five blocks, 17 digs and 15 assists to lead the way for Chamberlain. Brigitte Byrd added three aces and 21 digs, while Irene Grassrope had seven aces for the Cubs.

Miller was led by Jamie Mentzer and Kristen Peterka. Mentzer had four aces, 19 kills, 25 digs and two blocks. Peterka had 16 kills, 20 digs and three blocks.

Chamberlain (4-10) won the JV game and hosts Gregory Thursday in Chamberlain.

Miller (10-5) plays Aberdeen Roncalli Tuesday in Miller.

McCook Central/Montrose 3,

Dell Rapids 0

SALEM — The McCook Central/Montrose volleyball team defeated Dell Rapids 25-17, 25-21, 25-13 Tuesday.

MCM was led by C.J. Ristesund and Brianna Painter. Ristesund had 13 kills, 11 digs and three aces, while Painter had 11 digs and three aces. Danielle Hansen added six kills for the Fighting Cougars and Laura Klaudt had 23 assists.

MCM (5-10) hosts Tri-Valley Thursday in Salem.

Dell Rapids (1-13) plays Lennox Thursday in Dell Rapids.

Andes Central 3, Colome 0

COLOME — The Andes Central volleyball team beat Colome in three sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-16, 25-18, 25-13.

Payton Johanneson led the way for Andes Central. She recorded 17 kills, six blocks and 14 digs. Dennisha Johanneson added four aces, seven kills, 10 digs and seven blocks for the Eagles. Emily House added 15 assists.

Colome was led by Mariah Kinzer and Rylee Jo Rutten.

Kinzer had two aces, four kills and one block. Rutten had three aces and 15 digs.

Rebecca Moorhead chipped in with four kills and eight digs.

Colome (1-11) hosts Keya Paha, Neb., Tuesday in Colome.

Andes Central (6-6) plays in a tournament Saturday in Marion.

Parkston 3, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 0

PARKSTON — The Parkston volleyball team defeated Tripp-Delmont/Armour in three sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-10, 25-14, 25-18.

Stats were not reported for this game despite attempts to reach coaches.

Parkston (11-5) hosts Scotland Thursday in Scotland. The Nighthawks (2-11) host Wagner Monday in Armour.

Highmore-Harrold 3,

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 1

WOONSOCKET — The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket volleyball team fell to Highmore-Harrold in four sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-16, 25-27, 25-18, 25-23.

Stats were not reported for this game despite attempts to reach coaches.

The Blackhawks (9-5) play in the 281 conference tournament Thursday.
