Kocmich runs wild for Avon in win over Canistota

AVON – Brandon Kocmich was unstoppable for Avon in a 44-24 win over Canistota Sat-urday in a high school football game completed after being delayed by weather Friday.

Kocmich rushed for 378 yards on 15 carries and scored six touchdowns for the Pirates. Kocmich broke for three touchdowns of over 60 yards.

Avon racked up 576 rushing yards in the game.

Shay Jolley completed 11 of 19 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns to lead Canistota through the air. Nick Hofer added 88 yards on 21 carries and two scores for the Hawks. Hofer added receiving touchdown.

Avon (5-0) plays Gayville-Volin at 7 p.m. Friday in Avon, while Canistota (2-3) is off this week before taking on Mount Vernon/Plankinton at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 in Mount Vernon.

WAGNER – Wagner took an early lead and held on late for a 20-6 win over Beresford Saturday in Wagner.

The game was resumed Sat-urday after lightning postponed play on Friday.

David Kocer led Wagner with 126 yards rushing on 23 carries and a touchdown, while quarterback Dylan Brunsing completed four passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns.

Wagner (3-1) plays Todd County at 7 p.m. Friday in Mission.
