Area high school volleyball roundup: Ethan tops Mitchell Christian

ETHAN — Darbi Gustafson recorded 15 kills and 10 digs to lift Ethan over Mitchell Christian 3-0 in a high school volleyball match Monday.

Set scores were 25-21, 25-22, 25-9.

Rachel Hawkins recorded six kills and 14 digs, Morgan Tuttle had six kills and Kacey Bartscher tallied eight digs in the win. Danika Pollreisz added four aces and Holley Lindeman had 28 assists for Ethan.

Emily Reynen recorded nine kills, six digs and four blocks for the Golden Eagles. Ashley Schmit had six kills, Abby Reynen added three kills, Ellie Bleeker had 11 digs and Cassidy Graham recorded six digs and four blocks.

Ethan (12-4) hosts Scotland Thursday, while Mitchell Christian (5-8) plays Tripp-Delmont/Armour in Tripp.

Viborg-Hurley 3, Menno 0

MENNO — Menno suffered a 3-0 loss to Viborg-Hurley Monday in high school volleyball action.

Katelyn Graber led all players with eight kills in the win.

Abby Herrboldt recorded a team-high six digs, while Madison Huber had four assists, three digs and two aces in the loss.

Menno (0-7) hosts Freeman Thursday.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton 3, James Valley Christian 0

HURON — Mikayla Weiss had 15 assists and 10 digs in Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s 25-18, 25-14, 25-4 victory over James Valley Christian Monday.

Makaela Karst recorded four kills, Jordan Achterberg had six aces and Haley DeLancey added 11 digs in the win.

Hannah Loban tallied a game-high 14 digs in the loss.

The Titans (8-2) play at Canton Thursday, while James Valley Christian (1-9) plays at De Smet today.

Kimball/White Lake 3, Wessington Springs 1

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Jazmyn Hinker tallied 12 kills and 10 digs to lead Kimball/White Lake over Wessington Springs 3-1 Monday in high school volleyball action.

Set scores were 25-19, 25-14, 23-25, 25-21.

Anna Pazour had two aces, Ivy Haines recorded 11 kills and five blocks and Brooklyn Donald had six blocks in the win. Mary Kroupa had 35 assists and Emily Sinclair had 10 digs.

For the Spartans, Devin Tebay recorded two aces, six blocks and five kills. Morgan Tebay added four blocks, seven assists and 10 digs. Sheyanne Brodkorb had seven kills and 10 digs, while Lexi Olinger had nine assists.

Wessington Springs (3-6) plays Dakota Christian in New Holland, while Kimball/White (5-4) Lake plays Corsica/Stickney today in Stickney.

Bridgewater-Emery 3, Howard 1

HOWARD — The Bridgewater-Emery volleyball team defeated Howard 3-1 Monday.

Set scores were 19-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-17.

The Huskies host Hanson today in Bridgewater, while Howard hosts Oldham-Ramona/Rutland today.
