Mitchell fastpitch softball team takes one of three at conference round robin

The Mitchell High School fastpitch softball team rallied for its only win at the Eastern South Dakota Conference round robin Saturday at Caldwell Park in Mitchell.

The Kernels (2-15) were shutout by Yankton and Watertown to book end their day, but came from eight runs down to top Brookings.

Against Brookings, Mitchell fell behind 12-4 early but rallied for four in the fourth inning and six in the fifth to top the Bobcats 14-12.

Haley Misiaszek entered the game in relief in the third inning with her team down eight runs and no-hit Brookings the rest of the way.

Misiaszek also went 3-for-4, driving in six runs for the Kernels.

The Kernels finished in third place after losing to Yankton 8-0 and Watertown 7-0.

Mitchell fell to 2-15 on the season and plays a doubleheader against Sioux Falls Roosevelt at 6 p.m. today in Sioux Falls.
