Poor weather causes two local postponements

Weather conditions postponed Friday's Dakota Wesleyan University softball doubleheader in Mitchell and the Mitchell High School boys' tennis match in Vermillion.

DWU has postponed its doubleheader with Nebraska Wesleyan University until Sunday, April 22, at Dr. McWhirter Field in Mitchell.

The Mitchell boys' tennis team will take on Vermillion Thursday in Vermillion.

Booster club event today, meeting Monday

Today's Corn Palace Relays are a Mitchell Athletic Booster Club event. Booster club members will be admitted free with membership card. The relays start at 9 a.m. at Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell.

The next booster club meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Mitchell High School library.

Scotland native inducted into ODK

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Jason Vaith, of Scotland, was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) at an annual honors assembly Wednesday at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

Vaith was inducted based on scholarship and campus leadership. He is a junior at Morningside College and is majoring in business administration.

Bass league continues Tuesday

The Tuesday night bass league will resume fishing between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Sportsman Club boat ramp in Mitchell.

Entry fee for the event is $10 per contestant with payback to the top three places. Everyone is welcome to join.

DWU splits GPAC doubleheader

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Dakota Wesleyan University pitcher Ethan Opsahl recorded another complete-game win for the Tigers' baseball team as they took game two against Northwestern College 5-2 Friday in Orange City, Iowa.

The Red Raiders won the first game of the Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader 2-1.

DWU moved to 15-27 overall and 4-6 in the GPAC. The Tigers return home Sunday for a GPAC doubleheader against Midland University at 1 p.m. at Drake Field.
