Catching up: Edler helps Mount Marty to 8-6 start

Tyler Edler, a graduate of Menno High School, is hitting .316 through the first 14 games of the season for the Mount Marty Lancers. Edler, a senior, has six RBIs, five runs and is perfect stealing bases thus far.

From the mound for the Lancers, freshman and former Mitchell Kernel Michael Sadler has made one start and three appearances with an ERA of 4.26.

Mount Marty (8-6, 0-0 GPAC) hosts Dakota State on Tuesday before starting GPAC play at Morningside March 28.

Kozak hitting .500 for Lancers in 10 games

Freshman Karlee Kozak has made five starts in the infield for the Mount Marty Lancer softball team in its first 10 games of the season. The Tyndall native is batting .500 with three runs, three RBIs and one stolen base.

Mount Marty (2-8, 0-0 GPAC) will open GPAC play Saturday against Doane in Yankton.

Farley helping DSU baseball team

Dakota State junior J.D. Farley is batting .267 for the Trojans who went 4-for-5 in nine games in Tucson, Ariz., last week. Farley, a Winner native, has tallied six RBIs and four runs 16 games into the season.

DSU (6-10) is on a three-game win streak and will face Dakota Wesleyan today in Mitchell with a 3 p.m. start time.

Kocer earns all-conference honors

Wagner native Alex Kocer is one of three South Dakota State wrestlers named to the Western Wrestling Conference All-League team, the league announced Monday. A redshirt freshman for the Jacks, Kocer was named to the first team after a 2-0 showing in the NCAA West Regionals on March 8. Kocer has a team-high 29 wins and went 10-4 in his first year in the dual lineup.

Kocer is also one of three SDSU wrestlers who will compete at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Oklahoma City, which starts today.
