DWU’S Herrold named GPAC player of week

Dakota Wesleyan University freshman women’s basketball player Erica Herrold was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference player of the week, it was announced Monday.

Herrold, a Dimock native, led the Tigers in a 80-55 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in their first GPAC contest of the season. She had a career-high 20 points. Herrold shot 6-for-10 from the field, including 2-for-3 in 3-pointers, and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.

DWU (6-1) is receiving votes in the NAIA poll and takes on No. 12 Briar Cliff University at 6 p.m. today in Sioux City, Iowa.

3 Winner players named to all-Big Dakota team

Three Winner volleyball players were named to the all-Big Dakota Conference team.

Seniors Sarah Husher, Cassidy Hanson and Lindsey Calhoon were all voted to the first team by the league’s coaches.

The girls led the Warriors to a runner-up finish at the Class A state volleyball tournament over the weekend.

Chamberlain senior Kennedy Wagner was also one of 12 to make the all-conference team.

Winner senior Emily Richey and Chamberlain senior Abbey Handel were also chosen as an honorable mention selections.
