Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s Mattilynn Reiner will play for the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball team. Reiner was among three signees announced by the school on Tuesday.

Reiner is a five-year starter for the Nighthawks and she guided them to a third-place finish at the Class B State girls basketball tournament last season. TDA also won the Little Missouri Valley Conference title.

Reiner has tallied 1,362 points, 825 rebounds, 319 assists and 295 steals during her career. She’s a two-time all-stater, three-time all-conference performer and a four-year captain.

This past season, the 5-foot-9 guard/forward averaged 14.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.2 steals per contest, hitting 52 percent of her field-goal attempts.

“We always want to strive to build on our success from year to year,” DWU coach Jason Christensen said. “It makes it that much better when we can do that with the additions of local talents.”

Also on Tuesday, Christensen announced the signing of Emma Paul (Dell Rapids) and Sydnaya Dunn (Sioux Falls).

Paul averaged 10.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game for the 14-6 Quarriers last season. The 5-foot-8 Paul was an all-stater last season and and a three-time all-conference selection.

Dunn averaged six points and five rebounds per game, while tallying 40 blocks and 29 assists last season for Sioux Falls Lincoln. Dunn shot 48 percent from the field. The 6-foot-2 Dunn guided the Patriots to a 16-3 record and a third-place finish at state last season.

“These three girls are difference makers,” Christensen added. “We are beyond excited to see what they will bring to the team, and the legacy they will leave at DWU.”
