Preseason basketball poll: Huskies start season at No. 1 in Class B

Bridgewater-Emery has been tabbed as the No. 1 Class B boys basketball team in the preseason South Dakota Prep Media basketball poll.

The Huskies, who won last year's Class B state title with a 26-0 undefeated season, received 124 total points and 24 out of 25 first-place votes. Clark/Willow Lake, which moved down from Class A, received the other first-place vote. Canistota, which is also in Region 5B with Bridgewater-Emery, is tied at No. 5 with Langford Area in the Class B boys poll.

Avon is No. 3 in the Class B girls poll and is receiving 63 points, along with one first-place vote. Ethan checks in at No. 5 with 47 points and two first-place votes. Defending champion Sully Buttes is No. 1 with 92 points and 15 first-place votes.

In Class AA, the Aberdeen Central basketball teams are No. 1 in both preseason polls. The Golden Eagle boys garnered 109 points and 17 first place-votes. The Aberdeen Central girls received 13 first-place votes and 107 points, just edging out Harrisburg. The Tigers received 10 first-place votes and 104 points.

In Class A boys, defending champion Tea Area was the lone unanimous No. 1. The Titans received all 25 first-place votes and 125 total points, while Madison was No. 2 with 93 points. St. Thomas More was tabbed No. 1 in the Class A girls poll. The Cavaliers received 23 first-place votes and 118 points, while Lennox was tabbed No. 2 with 89 points and one first-place vote.
