Amateur baseball roundup: Plankinton drops South Central in Pony Hills contest
PLANKINTON -- The Plankinton Bankers held South Central to one hit to win an amateur baseball game 10-1 in Pony Hills League action on Tuesday.
Josh Engquist struck out 11 and gave up one hit in his five-inning start to earn the win. At the plate, Trevor Boyd led the Bankers with three hits. Chris Hill finished with two hits, while Travis Gant drove in two runs during his 1-for-3 day. Plankinton outhit South Central 13-1.
Blake Hoffman had South Central’s only hit of the game. Mac Johnson suffered the loss, giving up 10 runs (four earned) and 13 hits, while striking out six.

WAGNER -- Wagner scored three runs in the final two innings to top Platte in Sunshine League action on Tuesday.
Drue Soukup led Wagner at the plate with a 2-for-4 day and two RBIs. Dan Bures had Wagner’s other hit. Alex Kocer’s complete-game effort earned him the win as he allowed two runs (one earned) and six hits, while striking out seven.
Platte outhit Wagner 6-3. Two of those hits came from Brandon Kemp, who also took the loss on the mound. He allowed an earned run in 1/3 inning. Richard Sternberg lasted eight innings in his start, allowing two unearned runs and striking out nine.
Wagner (4-8, 4-8 Sunshine League) plays at Mount Vernon on Thursday. Platte (5-10, 5-8 Sunshine League) plays at Dimock/Emery on Thursday in Emery.
