Parkston boys golf finishes 8th at Madison Invitational
MADISON—The Madison Country Club welcomed 92 golfers and 16 teams on Tuesday as they hosted the Madison Invitational.
Tea Area took home the team title with 339 strokes as it was led by Brock Murphy, who shot par on the par-71 course to take home the individual crown. Murphy shot an impressive 32 on the front nine.
Parkston had the most success among area schools, holding off Beresford by two strokes with an eighth-place finish at 371 strokes. Quinn Bormann showed consistency on the course for the Trojans, shooting a 44 on both the front and back nine to place 17th at 88 strokes.
However, Payton Koehn led Parkston through the front nine, tallying 43 strokes. He finished with a score of 91 to take 26th.
Chamberlain notched a 13th-place finish as its 399 strokes was one behind Canton. Cameron Caldwell (85 strokes) and Dayton Priebe (89) were its only golfers to finish under 100 shots, taking ninth and 19th place, respectively.
McCook Central/Montrose came in 15th with 495 strokes. Brandon Lauer's 114 on the day led the team.
