Canova tops Gregory to start tournament

CORSICA—Canova scored eight runs in the first inning, four runs in the third and added seven more in the fourth to top Gregory, 19-4, in a five-inning teener baseball game on Monday.

Colton Spader went 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs, and Ben Laufman added three hits and three RBIs for Canova. For Gregory, Rhoss Oliver recorded two hits.

Isaac Feldhaus got the win as he gave up three runs (one earned) and four hits in a three-inning start. Jaden Frank took the loss, conceding six runs (five earned) without recording an out in his start.

Canova 9, Platte 7

CORSICA—Canova staved off Platte's late comeback to win its second teener baseball game on Monday.

Feldhaus and Laufman both had two hits for Canova, while Kelby Vander Werff finished with a game-high three hits.

Spader earned the win as he allowed three runs (one earned) and six hits over his six-inning start. Myles Kott suffered the loss, giving up six runs (five earned) in 3 2/3 innings.

Alexandria 11, Corsica/Stickney 1

CORSICA—In a teener baseball game on Monday, Alexandria only needed eight hits in its six-inning win over Corsica/Stickney.

For Alexandria, Caden Haiar had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in four runs, while Hayden Bahmuller had four RBIs to along with two hits. Corsica/Stickney only had three hits.

Riley Haynes tossed a complete game for Alexandria, allowing an earned run and striking out 10. Brendan Wentland suffered the loss as he allowed seven runs (three earned) over 2 1/3 innings.

Tyndall 9, Alexandria 5

CORSICA—Powered by 11 hits and a five-run third inning, Tyndall took down Alexandria in a teener baseball game on Monday.

Nate Scieszinski, Zach Cuka and Kaleb Kubal all had two hits for Tyndall, while Cuka drove in three runs and Josh Schmidt added two RBIs. Riley Ferry and Peyton Schroeder both had two hits for Alexandria.

On the mound, Tyler Kopp earned the win, striking out seven and allowing four earned runs in a four-inning start. Peyton Schroeder pitched four innings and struck out seven in his start, but he suffered the loss as he was tagged for nine runs (eight earned).

On Tuesday, Gregory and Alexandria play in an elimination game at 5 p.m. in Corsica, followed by Corsica/Stickney and Platte at 7:30 p.m. in the second elimination game of the day.
