Winner/Colome Legion tops Valentine

VALENTINE—Winner/Colome scored 12 runs in the seventh inning to top Valentine, 24-14, in a Legion baseball game on Wednesday.

Winner/Colome racked up 21 hits, including a 4-for-5 day from Jackson Kinzer. He hit two doubles and a home run, while driving in three runs. Carter Brickman and Riley Calhoon both had three hits. Ty Bolton, Shea Connot, Andrew Laprath and Chase Dufek all had two hits. Laprath led the team with four RBIs. Dufek and Connot both drove in a pair of runs.

Cale Meiners allowed eight earned runs and struck out eight in his four-inning start. Levi McClananan gave up two runs (one earned) in two innings out of the bullpen.

Winner/Colome (8-12) plays Beresford at Wagner, then hosts Gregory County on Sunday.

McCook/Miner 7, Corsica 1

CANOVA—McCook/Miner's offense started slow, but it eventually caught fire in its Legion baseball win over Corsica on Tuesday.

Cole Gassman started the scoring with a solo home run in the fourth inning. However, Cade Schmitt and Kyle Tuschen led the team with two RBIs each. Sam Arend finished 1-for-3 with a double and RBI.

On the mound, Cole Gassman earned the win as struck out eight and allowed two hits over 5 1/3 shutout innings in relief.

McCook/Miner (16-1) travels to Colton to play Colton and Clark on Saturday.
