Alexandria takes down Mount Vernon on Tuesday

MOUNT VERNON—Alexandria was led by Tyson Gau's 18 strikeouts in its 7-5 Sunshine League amateur baseball win against Mount Vernon on Tuesday.

Gau pitched a complete game, allowing five runs (four earned) on 12 hits and four walks. Jordan Gau's eighth-inning double drove in the two winning runs. He finished with two hits. Cole Wenande went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Tyson Gau finished 2-for-4.

For Mount Vernon, Eric Giblin had three hits and an RBI. Chase Hetland, Spencer Neugebauer and Jason Spicer all had two hits, while Neugebauer and Spicer both drove in a run. Ben Miller suffered the loss as he allowed five runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks over his two-inning start.

Alexandria (14-1, 12-1 Sunshine League) plays at Parkston today. Mount Vernon (4-11, 2-11 Sunshine League) hosts Wagner on today.
