Angels top Mudcats in Sunshine League play

ALEXANDRIA—Led by four hits in a four-run second inning, the Alexandria Angels beat Parkston 7-0 in Sunshine League action on Tuesday.

Alexandria outhit Parkston 11-4, while both teams committed an error.

The Angels had five extra-base hits on Tuesday, including a two-run home run from Cole Wenande. He went 3-for-5 with four RBIs.

Alexandria also had 2-for-4 days from Chris Marek, Pierce Smith and Billy Hamilton, while Marek and Hamilton each drove in a run. Tyson Gau earned the win as he struck out 12 batters and didn't allow a run in a complete game effort.

For Parkston, Will Lutjen, Spencer Lucas, Dylan Mugck and Jake Weber each had a hit. On the mound, Brady Nolz struck out 10 over eight innings. He allowed seven runs (six earned) and walked four.

Alexandria (8-1, 6-1) hosts Platte today. Parkston (8-5, 3-2) travels to Mount Vernon today.
