Tiger baseball team drops two Mustangs

The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team dropped a Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader to Morningside on Wednesday at Cadwell Park.

DWU fell 6-1 in the first game and 7-4 in the second game in the team's final home games of the season.

In Game 1, Morningside jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after two innings and the DWU bats stayed quite as the Tigers only recorded four hits. Colten Bourdreau had a double and Reed Harter added an RBI for DWU.

On the mound, Dominique Boerger took the loss, allowing six earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and one walk in six innings pitched.

In Game 2, the Mustangs raced out to an early lead again, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. DWU made the score 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning and tied the game with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before Morningside responded with three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Boudreau and Harter each had two hits, while Braden Oropeza had a hit and an RBI and Brody Kunzmann added a hit and two RBIs. Landon Neugebauer and Kyle Bailey each recorded a hit in the loss. Steven Sagasty pitched all seven innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

DWU (10-25, 6-16 GPAC) plays at Concordia in back-to-back GPAC doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday in Seward, Nebraska.
