YANKTON — Second-seeded Freeman defeated Canistota in girls basketball action Friday.

Freeman (16-6): Josie Fuhrmann scored 14 points, while Ashley Glanzer and Karli Maske tallied nine points apiece. Up next: Freeman will play in the Round of 16 on Mar. 1.

Canistota (8-14): Jordan Engbrecht put up eight points in the loss.

YANKTON — Top-seeded Irene-Wakonda knocked off Bridgewater-Emery in girls basketball Friday for a trip to the Round of 16.

Irene-Wakonda (20-2): Shannon O'Malley recorded 23 points for the Eagles, while Shannon Sokolowski tallied 13 points and seven rebounds. Malloy O'Malley added nine points. Up next: IW plays in the Round of 16 on Mar. 1.
