Nelson leads Mitchell Christian over SBA

MILLER — Mitchell Christian knocked off Sunshine Bible Academy 68-30 behind Alec Nelson's 23 points in a high school boys basketball game Monday night.

Nelson, who was 9-of-14 from the field, led all scorers. Mitchell Christian's Riley O'Neill had 15 points and Ty Vander Pol had seven rebounds and nine points. The Eagles led 38-22 at halftime and dominated the battle of the boards 34-25. They hit seven of nine 3-pointers.

"This is a big week for us with three games and we wanted to get the week started off right," MCS head coach Jesse Tolsma said. "Offensively, the boys did a real nice job. Ball movement is something we're really working on and we really played well together."

Sunshine Bible's Jade Burma led his team in scoring with 10 points. He also had a team-high seven rebounds.

The win is the fifth of the year for Mitchell Christian, which has won two of its past three games. Up next for the Eagles is a game today in Mitchell against James Valley Christian. Sunshine Bible is 0-14 this season.
