FGCU downs SDSU women
FT. MYERS, Fla.—In a battle of two of the top mid-major women's college basketball teams, Florida Gulf Coast posted a key 8-0 run late to take down South Dakota State 87-78 Friday.
SDSU led 73-71 with 3:13 left in the game after a Madison Guebert 3-pointer, only to see the Eagles (13-3) score the next eight points to move in front 79-73 and close out the contest.
Mitchell native Macy Miller scored 24 points, with Madison Guebert adding 22 points in the loss. It was Miller's 20th 20-point game of her career, and the seventh of the season. Letcher native Myah Selland had 15 points. SDSU was the No. 2-ranked team in the most recent Mid-Major top-25, while FGCU was No. 3.
SDSU (10-4) will host Omaha to open Summit League play on Jan. 3.
