Area wrestling roundup: Howard wins Sioux Valley quad
VOLGA — The Howard wrestling team won three duals at the Sioux Valley Quadrangular on Tuesday in Volga.
Howard beat Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney 52-9, Freeman 69-12 and Sioux Valley 70-3. Against MVPCS, Kieffer Klinkhammer (120 pounds) and Mitch Kramer (170) each earned pins, while Carter Calmus (126) earned a 12-4 major decision, Paul Winker (132) won a 7-1 decision and Evan Kizer (22) bested Jesse Hastings 10-4. Four Tigers won by forfeit.
Hunter Pranger (138) won by pinfall and Thomas Baker claimed a 5-2 decision over Isaac Feldhaus for MVPCS against the Tigers.
MVPCS downed Sioux Valley 59-6 and Freeman 56-15 to go 2-1 in the quad, while Freeman beat Sioux Valley 41-18.
Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon takes two duals
TYNDALL — The Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon wrestling team won a pair of duals on Tuesday in Tyndall. BHSA defeated Crofton-Bloomfield (Neb.) 48-33 and downed Pierce (Neb.) 46-30.
Against Crofton-Bloomfield, Zach Johnson (145 pounds) and Riley Hellmann (152) each earned wins by pinfall. Johnson added a 12-3 decision win against Pierce, while Isaac Crownover (106), Jordan Rueb (113), Tyrus Bietz (120), Micah DeBoer (220) and Michael Lange (285) earned pins. Pierce defeated Crofton-Bloomfield 54-30.
BHSA will compete in the Gregory Tournament on Saturday in Gregory.
