Area wrestling roundup: Warriors win KWLPG Invitational
KIMBALL—The Winner Area wrestling team won the Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes Wrestling Invitational on Saturday in Kimball. The Warriors racked up 232 points, while Redfield/Doland finished second with 215.5 points.
The Warriors had five individuals winners: Kaden Kaiser (106 pounds), Atlas Willuweit (120), Wyatt Turnquist (126), Trevor Peters (138) and Sam Kruger (145). Peters was also named the Most Outstanding Wrestler. Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes' Ty Namanny won the Pinner Award. The 170-pounder won all of his matches via pin.
Other area winners included: Wagner's Bradyn Lhotak (113), Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica's Thomas Baker (160), Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes' Ty Namanny (170), Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes' Kezery LeBeau (182), Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica's Jesse Hastings (220) and Wagner's Dawson Lensing (285).
Howard finishes 2nd at Flandreau Invitational
FLANDREAU—Behind four individual winners, Howard placed second at the Flandreau Invitational on Saturday in Flandreau. The Tigers finished with 195.5 points, while Madison placed first with 209 points.
Lane Miller (106 pounds), Mitch Kramer (170), E.J. Leetch (195) and Evan Kizer (220) all won titles for Howard.
Burke/Gregory places 3rd at Stanley County tourney
FORT PIERRE—The Burke/Gregory wrestling team finished third at the Stanley County Invitational on Saturday in Fort Pierre. The Storm amassed 189.5 points. Spearfish won with 259 points, just edging out Mobridge-Pollock (258).
Jeremiah Burke was Burke/Gregory's lone winner. Beck defeated Mobridge-Pollock's Stone Jensen 3-1 in the 182-pound championship match.
