Area prep volleyball roundup: Wolves down Golden Eagles
Paige Heckenlaible recorded 11 kills, three blocks, five digs and three aces as the Menno Wolves downed Mitchell Christian 3-0 in prep volleyball action on Thursday in Mitchell. Set scores were 25-9, 25-21 and 25-16.
Ashton Vaith added 21 digs, six kills and one ace, while Eisley Sayler had six aces, six digs, three kills and one block and Hailey Fergen added 16 assists and nine digs for Menno.
For MCS, Anna Cooper led with five kills and one ace, Grace Garrels had 16 digs, Katelyn Karhoff added 15 digs and Maggie Reynen recorded two kills and two blocks.
Mitchell Christian (3-17) plays Iroquois on Tuesday in Mitchell. Menno (9-8) won the JV match 2-0 and will play at the Thunder Invitational Saturday in New Holland.
Platte-Geddes 3, Chamberlain 0
CHAMBERLAIN — Platte-Geddes topped Chamberlain 25-16, 29-27 and 26-24 in a high school volleyball match on Thursday in Chamberlain.
Carly Sprik paced Platte-Geddes with 11 kills and five digs. Tori Weins added eight kills, two blocks and two aces. Courtney Neuman had 30 assists, while Sawyer Naasz finished with two aces and one block.
For Chamberlain, Paige Reuer finished with four kills and four blocks. Brenna Comfert had five kills and one ace. Izzy Tyrell dished out 10 assists and Jamie Pazour finished with eight digs.
Platte-Geddes (7-11) plays Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Monday in Platte. Chamberlain (5-15) hosts McLaughlin and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte in a triangular on Tuesday in Chamberlain.
KWL 3, SCW 1
WOONSOCKET — Heather Munsen tallied 33 assists and six aces as Kimball/White Lake topped Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 3-1 in a high school volleyball match on Thursday in Woonsocket. Set scores were 25-22, 25-16, 22-25 and 27-25.
Grace Konechne had 11 kills, three blocks and two aces, Sara Kunnari added nine kills and two blocks, while Darby Deffenbaugh and Kennedy Leiferman had 13 and 10 digs, respectively.
SCW was led by Tesa Jensen, who had 10 kills, while Abby Doering added seven kills, five blocks and three aces. Erica Howard recorded eight kills, Tristan Ziebart had 21 assists, 14 digs and two aces for a double-double and Alissa Ball added 12 digs in the loss.
KWL (17-4) plays Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Monday in White Lake. SCW (13-8) will host Corsica-Stickney on Monday in Forestburg.
West Central 3, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton 0
HARTFORD — West Central swept Mount Vernon/Plankinton 25-15, 25-20 and 25-11 in a prep volleyball match on Thursday in Hartford.
Kali Nelson led the Trojans with 13 kills and one block. Ashlyn Macdonald added seven kills, five digs and one block. Alyssa Ideker had 13 digs and Mercede Odegaard had 15 assists.
For MVP, Destiney Haak had 12 kills and Hailey Walz added four kills. Camie Walz recorded 26 digs. Reagan Klooz had 14 digs, 15 assists and one block. Rebecca Gerlach had 12 digs.
West Central (11-11) plays at Madison on Saturday. MVP (9-11) hosts Winner on Monday in Plankinton.
Hanson 3, Ethan 1
ETHAN — Brookelyn Slaba recorded a double-double as Hanson beat Ethan 25-22, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-20 in prep volleyball action on Thursday in Ethan.
Slaba finished the match with 15 kills and 23 digs, while Jada Campbell had 20 kills and three blocks, Tessa Zens had 22 digs and Heather Kayser added 43 assists.
For Ethan, Karly Gustafson had a match-high 21 kills and three blocks. Jada Plastow added 15 kills and three blocks, Maddie Miiller had 24 digs, Kailey Feiner added 22 digs and Jessica Bartscher had 35 assists.
Hanson (20-1) will visit Scotland on Monday. Ethan (16-4) hits the road to play Avon on Monday.
Scotland 3, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 2
TRIPP — Scotland's Taylor Bietz recorded her 1,000th career assist as Scotland edged Tripp-Delmont/Armour 3-2 in a prep volleyball match on Thursday in Tripp. Set scores were 25-16, 10-25, 14-25, 25-10 and 15-10.
Bietz finished with 38 assists, 24 digs, five aces and four kills in the match. Taylor Gall added 15 kills and 19 digs for the Highlanders. Bella Vitek recorded 13 kills and Grace Fryda had 12 digs. Kennedy Bietz finished with 10 digs, nine kills and four aces. Kelsi Nooney had 11 digs.
For TDA, Matti Reiner had nine kills, four digs and two blocks. Kianna Payer added five kills and eight digs. Erica Koster dished out 19 assists and had five digs. McKenzie VanPelt added 10 digs.
Tripp-Delmont/Armour (5-13) and Scotland (3-14) both play Saturday at the Thunder Invitational at Dakota Christian.
Chester Area 3, Canistota 0
CANISTOTA — No. 4-ranked Chester Area blanked Canistota 3-0 in a prep volleyball match on Thursday in Canistota. Set scores were 25-20, 25-17 and 25-18.
Jadon Wages had 11 kills, Dakota Alfson added 10 kills and three blocks and Hanna Reiff tallied a match-high 32 digs for the Flyers. For Canistota, Jordan Engbrecht had six kills and six digs, Noelle Hofer added six kills, 14 digs and one ace and MiKenzie Kirby had five kills, 16 digs and three aces in the loss.
Canistota (16-5) plays at Irene-Wakonda on Monday in Wakonda. Chester Area (19-4) visits Sioux Valley on Tuesday in Volga.

WAGNER — Abby Brunsing recorded 19 kills to power Wagner past Andes Central/Dakota Christian 25-18, 25-22 and 25-18 in prep volleyball action on Thursday in Wagner.
Lizzy Tyler had five aces, six kills and 11 digs, Carolyn Blaha tallied eight kills and two blocks, Schylar Juffer added 17 digs and Sierra Juffer had 37 assists for the Red Raiders.
For ACDC, Sidney Muckey had three aces and two blocks, Beulah Black Cloud recorded seven kills and 13 digs, Megan Mudder added 11 digs and Taylor Gray finished with 16 assists.

For the Warbirds, Raquel Nelson had nine kills, Lizzi Brandt added six kills and three aces and Kailen Krause had 18 digs. Maddie Neely had eight kills, Sierra Swenson recorded 22 digs and Chasity Vissia had six assists for the Spartans.
Wolsey-Wessington (11-8) plays Sunshine Bible Academy on Tuesday in Miller. Wessington Springs (6-11) plays in the Thunder Invitational Saturday at New Holland.

Taylee Indahl had 11 kills, Lahna Matucha added 11 kills, 10 digs and three aces for a double-double and Tressa Bull had eight kills and four blocks for the Cougars. Bobbi Jo Wischmann had 32 assists and six digs in the win. For Gregory, KaeLee Haney had five kills, Sydney Svatos added nine assists, while Megan Warnke had 15 digs and Jaslee Kerner added 12 digs.
