DWU men's golf takes 12th at Midland Invite

OAKLAND, Neb.—The Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team opened its season with a 12th-place finish at the 15-team Midland Invite on Friday and Saturday at the Oakland Golf Course in Oakland, Nebraska.

DWU carded a team score of 317 or 311, while Iowa Western won the event with a score of 586.

Connor Preston placed eighth with a two-day score of 148, while Cade Carpenter, a former Mitchell Kernel, carded a 158 and Russell Pick finished with a 161. Alec Johnson, a Tyndall native, placed 57th with a 163 and Justice Morrison fired a round of 164.

The Tigers compete at the Dordt/Northwestern Invite Thursday at the Ridge and Landsmeer Golf Courses in Sioux Center and Orange City, Iowa.
