Parkston Legion team wins Region 4B

PARKSTON -- The Parkston Legion baseball team won the Region 4B championship Saturday, earning a berth to the Class B state Legion tournament.

Parkston opens state at 5 p.m. Friday in Tabor.

Parkston had to beat Platte twice in the championship round to win the region tournament. Parkston beat Platte 10-2 in the first game and 6-0 in the second game to claim the title.

In the first championship round game, Dillon Stadlman got the win. He struck out six and gave up no runs in nine innings. Dylan Lehr went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Ty Kinneberg went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Coby Johnson suffered the loss, giving up five runs, four earned, and striking out two in five innings for Platte, which had four total hits.

In the final game, Cole Donahue got the win, giving up two earned runs and striking out five in six innings. Richard Sternberg suffered the loss, giving up seven runs, five earned, and striking out four in six innings.

For Parkston, Spencer Lucas and Lehr each had three hits.
