3 area players headed to FCS

Winner’s Kray Krolikowski, Wagner’s Noah St. Pierre and Bon Homme’s Scott Wieseler will each play football at the Division I level next season.

St. Pierre is headed to South Dakota State University, where he will compete for time as a defensive back. Wieseler, a linebacker, will also play for the Jackrabbits.

The Winner senior is taking his talents to the University of South Dakota, where he will play defensive end.

Seven area boys’ teams to play in DWU boys’ classic

Pairings for the Dakota Wesleyan University boys’ basketball classic were released Wednesday.

The classic will host 14 Class A and B teams Feb. 15 at the Corn Palace in Mitchell. The first game begins at 11 a.m.

Area teams participating in the event are Bridgewater-Emery, Burke/South Central, McCook Central/Montrose, Corsica/Stickney, Mount Vernon/Plankinton, Parkston and Platte-Geddes.

DWU boys’ basketball classic pairings

Feb. 15 at the Corn Palace

11 a.m.: Bridgewater-Emery vs. Burke/South Central (7-7); 12:30 p.m.: McCook Central/Montrose (6-7) vs. Corsica/Stickney (8-6); 2 p.m.: Mount Vernon/Plankinton (10-5) vs. Potter County (9-2); 3:30 p.m.: Dell Rapids (7-5) vs. Parkston (10-4); 5 p.m.: Pine Ridge (10-1) vs. Aberdeen Roncalli (12-2); 6:30 p.m.: Platte-Geddes (7-4) vs. Sully Buttes (9-2); 8 p.m.: White River (11-2) vs. James Valley Christian (11-1).

Tyler Myers signs with Dakota State

ETHAN — Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan football player Tyler Myers has signed to play football at Dakota State University next season, it was announced Wednesday.

Myers helped lead the Seahawks to a Class 9AA state championship last season. Myers was also selected as a first-team Class 9AA member.
