Voss named GPAC player of week

Dakota Wesleyan University forward Jalen Voss was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference’s player of the week, it was announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-7 junior had a team-high 23 points and eight rebounds in DWU’s 84-81 upset win over Briar Cliff and added 26 points and eight rebounds in the Tigers’ 82-71 loss to Midland Sunday.

In the last 13 games, Voss led the Tigers in scoring in 10.

DWU (13-9, 6-6 GPAC) hosts Morningside College at 8 p.m. today at the Corn Palace.

SCW basketball coaches to speak at QB Club

The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket basketball coaches are set to speak at tonight’s Quarterback Club meeting.

Tim McCain and Rob Baruth, co-head coaches for the Blackhawk girls, and Troy Olson, head coach of the SCW boys’ team, will speak at 7:30 p.m. today at The Depot.

MBA holding 3 registration days

The Mitchell Baseball Association is having its first of three sign-ups today in the meeting room at the Mitchell Rec Center.

Registration goes from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The other registration dates are Feb. 5 and 12.

Registration for youth ages 13 to 19 who are interested in playing spring or summer baseball should attend one of the sign-ups. All forms can be downloaded from

Brian Hofer bowls third 300 game

Brian Hofer, of Mitchell, bowled a 300 Tuesday night at the Village Bowl in Mitchell.

It was Hofer’s third perfect game. The other two he recorded over eight years ago and the two came three weeks apart.

Hofer bowls for Hofer Agency in the Industrial League.
