Trae Bergh earns conference honors

Dakota Wesleyan University sophomore guard Trae Bergh was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference’s player of the week, it was announced Tuesday.

Last week, Bergh helped the Tiger men’s basketball team pick up a pair of wins over Dakota State University and No. 6 Hastings. He scored a team-high 24 points against the Trojans and 22 points in DWU’s upset win over Hastings.

This is Bergh’s first GPAC honor of his career and he averages 23 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals per game.

The Tigers (10-7, 3-4 GPAC) play Northwestern College (9-8, 2-5 GPAC) today in Orange City, Iowa.

Avon basketball hosting jamboree

AVON — The Avon girls’ basketball team is hosting a youth girls’ jamboree Feb. 8 in Avon.

There will be two divisions for third- and fourth-grade girls. The entry fee is $40 per team and entries are due Feb. 1.

Three games are guaranteed and no score will be kept.

Hanson basketball coaches to speak at Quarterback Club

A pair of Hanson basketball coaches will speak at tonight’s Quarterback Club meeting.

Girls’ basketball head coach Jim Bridge and boys’ head coach Josh Oltmanns are the special guests. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at The Depot in Mitchell.
