DWU volleyball falls to Dakota State in four sets

MADISON — The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team fell in four sets to Dakota State University 25-19, 18-25, 25-16, 25-19, Wednesday in Madison.

The Tigers (7-23) were led by Katie Vetch with 12 kills in the non-conference game. Hannah Hammer added seven kills for DWU, while Brianna Jung had a team-high 33 assists in the loss.

Caitlin Pick recorded 17 kills to lead the Trojans (7-22).

The Tigers play Doane College on Senior Night at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Mitchell.

DWU wrestling No. 10 in preseason NAIA poll

The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team was picked 10th in the preseason National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics poll released Wednesday.

Defending national champion Grand View University was slotted first in the NAIA rankings.

The Tigers finished 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference last season.

DWU returns 2012-13 All-GPAC First Team performers Richard Rios and Kyle Gerlach to this year’s squad.

The Tigers start their season Nov. 15 against the University of Regina in Mitchell.
