ESD girls’ tennis tourney postponed

The Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ tennis tournament will be postponed from today until Monday in Pierre.

The tournament, which was originally scheduled for 9 a.m. today, is moved to Monday due to the impending weather system that is forecasted to be moving through the region.

DWU women take GPAC qualifier

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Dakota Wesleyan women’s golf team won their second consecutive tournament, taking the second Great Plains Athletic Conference qualifier Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Tigers finished with a score of 331, topping second-place Northwestern College by 25 strokes.

DWU’s Lauren Fitts finished tied for first individually, shooting an 80. Chelsea Burback carded an 82 for fourth place.

The Tigers are finished for the fall. The spring season starts against Southwestern College March 18 in Winfield, Kan.

DWU volleyball ends losing streak

The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s volleyball team ended an 11-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Presentation College Wednesday at the Christen Family Wellness Center in Mitchell.

The Tigers (5-16) got 11 kills from Hannah Hammer and Sarah Kruse, while Mallory Jark added 10 kills.

Katie Lindow led the DWU defense with 19 digs. Rebecca Garcia and Brianna Jung each added 21 assists.

The Tigers play a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Saturday against Mayville State and Valley City State in Mayville, N.D.
