Area volleyball roundup 10/1/13: Corsica/Stickney gets first win

STICKNEY — Brittni Moke had a game-high 19 digs in Corsica/Stickney’s 22-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-21 win over Wessington Springs Monday in a high school volleyball match.

Rachel Milligan added 11 assists and three aces, Jackie Dethlefsen had eight kills and six blocks in the win.

For the Spartans, Lexi Olinger had 12 kills, Morgan Tebay added 11 kills, and Sheyanne Brodkorb tallied 12 digs.

The Jaguars (1-12) plays Tripp-Delmont/Armour Thursday in Armour, while Wessington Springs (5-9) plays Mount Vernon/Plankinton today in Plankinton.

Parkston 3, Freeman 0

FREEMAN — Laura Weiss had 12 kills and one ace to lead Parkston over Freeman 25-9, 26-24, 25-8 Monday in high school volleyball action.

Whitney Weber added nine assists, eight digs and one ace, while Halli Heisinger tallied seven kills, one block and three aces in the win.

Freeman was led by Mady Pravecek with 14 assists, five digs and one ace. Haley Glanzer had a game-high 14 digs.

Parkston won the JV and C matches.

Parkston (10-5) hosts Tripp-Delmont/Armour today, while Freeman (2-7) plays at Ethan Thursday.

Lyman at Belle Fourche tournament

BELLE FOURCHE — The Lyman Raiders went 2-2 at the 16-team tournament over the weekend.

Anna Flitner led Lyman with 49 kills, 53 digs and 10 blocks. Bailey Almond recorded 43 assists, while Sara Herman tallied 50 digs for the Raiders.

Lyman (16-6) plays Platte-Geddes Thursday in Platte.
