MHS girls beat Tea Area 2-1

TEA — The Mitchell Kernels girls’ varsity team won its third game of the season Thursday as it defeated Tea Area 2-1.

Bailey Hohn scored the first goal for the Kernels in the first half. Emily Paulson added a second goal in the second half to give the Kernels a 2-0 lead.

Tea scored with eight minutes left in the game to cut the lead in half.

“I am very proud of the girls, and I am excited that the scoreboard is finally reflecting how well they have been playing,” Mitchell girls’ soccer coach Kayla Braffet said. “They did a much better job defending as a whole team today.”

Mitchell (3-8-1) plays Groton Area Tuesday in Groton.

DWU women top Presentation in OT

ABERDEEN — The Tigers came from two goals down to capture a 3-2 win in overtime over Presentation College Thursday in a women’s soccer game.

The Tigers’ Lexi Wilde scored in the 101st minute to secure the win.

DWU (3-5-1) was down 2-0 after Presentation’s Hanalysa Thompson netted her second goal early in the second half.

Maranda Ehrenfried and Linsey Peterson each scored for the Tigers in regulation to force overtime.

DWU plays Dordt College at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.

5 Tigers score in DWU men’s win

ABERDEEN — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team got goals from five different players to top Presentation College 5-1 Thursday in Aberdeen.

The Tigers (6-2-1) jumped out in front early with goals from Derek Granum and Mike Haight in the first nine minutes.

Chaz Foss scored in the 28th minute to give DWU a 3-0 halftime lead.

After Presentation scored to narrow the Tigers’ lead to two, Adhemar Lino Cortez and Tyler Grilley each found the back of the net to put the game away for DWU.

The Tigers play Dordt College at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
