Area high school volleyball roundup: Parkston defeats Jaguars in three

CORSICA — Kenzie Lee had a game-high 14 digs and added seven kills to help Parkston beat Corsica/Stickney 3-0 in a high school volleyball match Tuesday in Corsica.

Set scores were 25-18, 25-13, 25-18.

Jessica Bialas recorded 13 kills and one ace, Whitney Weber had 16 assists, 11 digs and three aces in the win.

For the Jaguars, Brianna Kuyper had 10 digs and two aces, Rachel Milligan recorded four kills and Hope Menning added a team-best 13 digs.

Corsica/Stickney (0-7) plays at Ethan Thursday, while Parkston (6-2) hosts Lennox Thursday.

Bon Homme 3, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 0

TRIPP — Bon Homme defeated Tripp-Delmont/Armour 25-21, 25-16, 25-17 Tuesday in high school volleyball action.

Caitlin McLouth had a game-high 12 kills, Alie Adams recorded 23 assists, 12 digs and two assists and Vanessa Navratil added 23 digs and three aces in the win. Kelsey Sutera had 10 kills, 23 digs and five aces.

Jessica Sandau had 20 digs and Becca Brown added two kills in the loss.

Bon Homme (7-1) won the JV game and plays Irene-Wakonda Thursday in Wakonda, while the Nighthawks (1-5) host Freeman Thursday in Armour.

Canistota 3, Colman-Egan 0

CANISTOTA — Sydney Randall had a game-high 21 digs in Canistota’s 3-0 victory over Colman-Egan Tuesday.

Set scores were 18-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-19.

Jenny Hofer, Cadie Anderson and Bre Buseman each had seven kills, while Morgan Larson recorded 19 digs.

Colman-Egan’s Tori Nelsen had 10 kills and 10 digs in the loss.

Canistota (2-3) hosts Howard Thursday.

Bridgewater-Emery 3, Freeman 0

BRIDGEWATER — Justine Dye had 10 kills, eight digs, three aces and one block to lead Bridgewater-Emery to a three set victory over Freeman Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-14, 25-18, 25-19.

Aly Hanssen had 11 assists and five digs for Bridgewater-Emery, while Hannah Harberts had 13 assists and four aces, Kelsey Kotas had nine kills and Tiana Kayser recorded seven kills and five assists.

Shelby Jensen led Freeman with six kills, six digs and one block. Nicole Hinckley chipped in with five kills, one block and three digs for Freeman, which won the JV match.

Bridgewater-Emery (4-1) plays Viborg-Hurley Thursday in Viborg. Freeman (1-4) plays Tripp-Delmont/Armour Thursday in Armour.

Winner 3, Lyman 1

WINNER — Cassidy Hanson had 17 kills and four digs in Winner’s four-set victory over Lyman Tuesday.

Set scores were 20-25, 25-20, 25-8, 25-17.

Lindsey Calhoon tallied 15 kills, one block and six digs, while Sara Husher had 39 assists, five digs, two kills and two aces for Winner, which won the JV match.

For Lyman, Anna Flitner recorded a game-high 21 kills and added three blocks and two aces. Bailey Almond had 18 assist and Sara Herman added 27 digs and two aces.

Winner (9-1) plays in the Big Dakota Conference tournament Saturday. Lyman (11-4) plays Bennett County Saturday in Martin.

Mitchell Christian 3, Wolsey-Wessington 0

Emily Schrag recorded 23 assists and three blocks to help Mitchell Christian defeat Wolsey-Wessington 3-0 Tuesday.

Emily Reynen had 11 kills, two aces, eight blocks and six digs in the win. Ellie Bleeker added nine digs and three aces.

Ashley Eggleston had a game-high 12 digs, while Monica Hentzi added four kills, four aces and six digs in the loss.

Mitchell Christian (5-6) hosts Mount Vernon/Plankinton Thursday, while Wolsey-Wessington (4-4) plays Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Tuesday in Forestburg.

Scotland 3, Andes Central 1

LAKE ANDES — Carley Skorepa had 18 kills, three blocks, two digs and two aces to lead Scotland over Andes Central in four sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-22, 20-25, 25-14, 25-15.

Amber Alvey tallied 21 assists, four digs and four aces, while Jessica Thum had nine digs and six kills in the win.

Payton Johanneson led Andes Central with 12 kills, 10 assists, seven digs and six aces, while Dennisha Johanneson had 10 kills, 14 assists and nine digs.

Andes Central won the JV match and Scotland won the C match.

The Eagles (2-3) play at Platte-Geddes Thursday, while Scotland (4-1) plays in the Cavalier Clash Saturday in Tyndall.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton 3, Kimball/White Lake 0

WHITE LAKE — The Mount Vernon/Plankinton volleyball team defeated Kimball/White Lake 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 Tuesday.

For the Titans, Megan Bultsma recorded four kills and six blocks, Makaela Karst had six aces and Dani Stoltz added nine kills. Mikayla Weiss had 15 assists and Haley Hinker recorded 10 digs in the win.

Haley Pazour had nine kills and two blocks and Jazmyn Hinker had two aces and 14 digs in the loss. Mary Kroupa recorded 25 assists and eight digs, while Ivy Haines added 10 kills for the WiLdKats, who won the JV match.

The Titans (6-2) play Mitchell Christian Thursday, while the WiLdKats (3-4) host James Valley Christian Thursday in Kimball.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 3, Wessington Springs 1

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Marissa Weber recorded 16 kills to help the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks defeat Wessington Springs 3-1 Tuesday in high school volleyball action.

Set scores were 25-15, 12-25, 25-13, 25-19.

Rachel Selland had 20 assists for the Blackhawks, while Savannah Swenson and Myah Selland each had four kills. Myah Selland also had seven blocks, while Swenson had 12 digs and Jessica Schmit had two aces.

Lexi Olinger had nine assists for Wessington Springs. Morgan Tebay chipped in with seven assists and three aces and Sheyanne Brodkorb had 11 digs and five aces. Shyanne Kopfmann recorded seven kills and Monica Jones had four kills for the Spartans.

SC/W (4-3) won the JV match and plays Hanson at the Bridgewater-Emery tournament Saturday in Emery.

Wessington Springs (1-3) hosts Chamberlain Thursday.

Hanson 3, Marion 2

ALEXANDRIA — The Hanson Beavers volleyball team defeated the Marion Bears 3-2 Tuesday.

Set scores were 18-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-11, 15-13.

Kynedi Cheesman recorded 19 kills, seven digs and five aces to lead the way for Hanson. Hailey Doyle had 18 assists and three aces, while Sydney Dodd and Katlyn Schroeder each had nine kills and one block. Leah Marsh had 16 digs and Emily Brown added 22 assists.

Marion was led by Erica Schoenwald, recording 17 kills, 34 digs, two aces and two blocks. Devin Nelson had 13 kills, 19 digs and three aces and Renae Kayser chipped in with 19 assists, 14 digs, three kills and one ace.

Hanson (7-1) won the JV game and plays Avon Thursday in Alexandria. Marion (5-3) plays at Centerville Thursday.

Wagner 3, Avon 0

AVON — The Wagner Red Raiders volleyball team defeated Avon in three sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-21, 25-16, 25-12.

Ali Kuca, Gina Soukup and Kim Koupal led the way for the Red Raiders. Kuca had nine kills, four blocks and four aces. Soukup recorded eight kills, five digs and one block and Koupal had eight kills, seven digs, four aces and two blocks. Kayla Deurmeier chipped in with 16 assists, while Krista Dvorak added 11 assists and three aces.

Avon was led by Ariana Oorlog and Chesney Nagel. Oorlog had five kills, 13 digs, two aces and two blocks. Nagel had six kills, two blocks, one assists and nine digs, while Heidi Cap added three kills, two blocks and one assists.

Wagner (6-2) won the JV match and plays Saturday at the Cavalier Clash in Tyndall. Avon (2-4) plays Hanson Thursday in Alexandria.

Gregory 3, Dakota Christian 1

GREGORY — The Gregory volleyball team defeated Dakota Christian 25-12, 15-25, 25-15, 27-25 Tuesday.

Brett Steffen led the way for Gregory, recording 27 assists and three aces. Courtney Opbroek had 12 kills, 13 digs and one block, while Allison Sundquist had eight kills, Codi Horst had 16 digs and Briana Leber had 17 digs.

Dakota Christian was led by Brooklyn Vander Pol. She had nine kills, seven blocks and one ace. Abbi BaanHofman had eight kills and 10 digs for Dakota Christian and Kennedy Muckey had six kills, 14 digs, seven aces and one block.

Gregory (6-4) won the JV game and plays in the Cavalier Clash Saturday in Tyndall. Dakota Christian (2-5) plays Wessington Springs Tuesday in New Holland.

Chester Area 3, Howard 0

CHESTER — The Howard Tigers volleyball team fell to Chester Area in three sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-7, 25-4, 25-6.

Kayla Pardy and Sam Hughes each had eight digs to lead the way for Howard. Jessica Cavigielli added three blocks and three kills, while Taylor Noid had four kills and five digs for the Tigers.

Chester won the JV game 2-0.

Howard (1-9) plays Canistota Thursday in Canistota.

Chamberlain 3, Todd County 0

MISSION — The Chamberlain Cubs volleyball team defeated Todd County in three sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-12, 25-19, 25-15.

Abbey Handel had four aces, 14 assists and seven kills to lead the way for Chamberlain. Ilaria Giuli chipped in with three aces and five blocks, while Kennedy Wagner had nine kills and Sarah Knust had 25 digs.

Chamberlain won the JV match 2-0.

Chamberlain (3-2) plays Wessington Springs Thursday in Wessington Springs.

Platte-Geddes 3, Colome 0

COLOME — The Platte-Geddes Black Panthers defeated the Colome Cowgirls in three sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 30-28, 25-11, 25-23.

Platte-Geddes was led by Madi Whalen and Jermaine Nelson. Whalen had two aces, 11 assists and five kills, while Nelson had two aces, five kills and two digs. Josie DeGroot chipped in with four blocks and 13 kills, while Brianna Erickson had 10 assists. Kiera Hubers added four blocks and Cassidy Plooster had five assists for the Black Panthers.

Colome was led by Sarah Shippy, Mariah Kinzer and Callie Heath. Shippy had five kills and one block, while Kinzer had four kills and six digs and Heath had four kills and one block.

Platte-Geddes (2-5) plays Andes Central Thursday in Platte. Colome (1-7) plays Winner Tuesday in Colome.
