Salem/Montrose/Canova, Alexandria earn state tourney berths

SALEM -- Salem/Montrose/Canova shut out Kimball/White Lake 7-0 Thursday in the Region 2B teener tournament.

With the win, Salem/Montrose/Canova qualified for the state tournament and plays in the championship game against Alexandria at 6 p.m. today.

Luke Loudenburg was the winning pitcher, giving up two hits while striking out nine. The losing pitcher was Jesse Kirsch, who struck out four in seven innings.

Loudenburg went 3-for-4 and Cole Cheeseman had two hits in the win. For Kimball/White Lake, Jason Steckley and Todd Kieffer each had a single.

Alexandria 19, Kimball/White Lake 10

Josh Feiner had five singles to help Alexandria defeat Kimball/White Lake 19-10 Thursday.

Alexandria advances to the championship game today and earned a state tournament berth. Levi Doyle had two doubles, Wyatt Kayser had two singles and Tim Leach and Tanner Miller each had a double in the win.

Eathen Gaulke and Seth Kirsch each had a double, Hayden Thiry had two singles and Kieffer had a double and two singles in the loss.

Alexandria 8, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 7

Wyatt Kayser had three strikeouts to help Alexandria beat Mount Vernon/Plankinton Thursday.

Joe Davis was the losing pitcher and Cody Renken, Max Moore and Jake Stange each had two singles in the loss.

For Alexandria, Tim Leach and Tanner Miller each had two singles.
