Herll qualifies for regional gymnastics meet

RAPID CITY -- Mitchell's Quinci Herll qualified for the Region 7 Gymnastics Meet for her efforts in the South Dakota State Club Gymnastics Meet this weekend in Rapid City.

Herll took first place in vault, beam, floor and all-around in the Level 8 senior divison.

The freshman will be a part of the Level 8 Super Team at the Region 7 Gymnastics Meet on April 13 in St. Louis, Mo.

Mitchell Extreme Gymnastics Academy earned 55 medals and 10 state champions in the state meet. Mitchell competitors ranged for level 4 to Level 8.

Tyler Sarringar nominated for A.O. Duer Award

Dakota Wesleyan University wrestler Tyler Sarringar has been nominated for the Great Plains Athletic Conference's A.O. Duer Award.

The junior was nominated by faculty athletic representatives from the conference, and each conference in the NAIA chooses one male and one female junior student athlete for the award. The award is given to one male and one female from any sport in the spring.

Sarringar has competed in the past three NAIA National Wrestling Championships, was named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and maintains a 3.96 grade point average.

Four players join Dakota Wesleyan football team

Dakota Wesleyan University football coach Ross Cimpl announced four more players have signed to play with the Tigers this fall.

They are defensive backs Cody Bonte, of Garretson, and Khalil Glover, of Phoenix, running back J.J. Husar, of San Tan Valley, Ariz., and tight end Marcus Ritledge, of Phoenix.

The Tigers have 37 signed players that will join the program this fall.
