MHS beats Huron in state tune-up
Rebecca Sadler recorded a career high in all-around to help the Mitchell High School gymnastics team defeat Huron in a dual Thursday in Mitchell.
The Kernels scored 144.1 team points and Huron finished with 139.5. The score was Mitchell's second-highest team score of the season.
"This is a meet that we just added in our schedule to fill a hole between our conference meet last week and state next week," Mitchell coach Audra Rew said. "It was a great way to give the girls one more opportunity to put pressure on themselves to mentally get ready for state."
Sadler's all-around score was a 35.85 and she finished third on bars, second on floor and tied for fourth on vault.
"It was nice to see Becca hit all four events. That's what we needed headed into state," Rew said.
Quinci Herll finished first in all events and the all around.
Mitchell's next competition is the state meet, held Feb. 15-16 in Rapid City.
