Wesleyan's Bird, Tinklenberg earn all-conference honors

Dakota Wesleyan's Danielle Bird and Rachel Tinklenberg earned all-Great Plains Athletic Conference honors, which were announced Wednesday.

Both were awarded honorable mention by the conference.

Bird, a sophomore, led the team and tied for seventh in the GPAC with 357 kills on the season. Tinklenberg, a junior, recorded 236 kills for the Tigers.

Black Hills State, SD Mines play in final game of season

RAPID CITY -- Black Hills State University and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology face off in an intra-state football game at 1 p.m. Saturday in Rapid City.

The Yellow Jackets (3-7) are on a two-game winning streak, shutting out Fort Lewis College 23-0 last week. The Hardrockers (2-8) are on a three-game losing streak.

BHSU has a total 2,084 offensive yards on the season, while SD Mines has 3,267 total yards.

Mike Zanutto has led SD Mines with 139-of-236 in passing for 1,337 yards and eight touchdowns. Running back Jahmel Rover has 141 carries for 715 yards and eight touchdowns.

Mitchell's Polreis bowls 801 in men's league Tuesday

Kris Polreis, of Mitchell, bowled an 801 series Tuesday night in men's league at the Village Bowl, Mitchell.

His three games were scores of 266, 267 and 268. Polreis bowls on the VFW


Running club to host annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving

The Dakota Plains Running Club will be hosting its seventh annual Turkey Trot 5K road race Nov. 22 in Mitchell.

The race begins at 9 a.m. at John Paul II Elementary School.

Pre-registration for the race is encouraged. Runners can do so at Runners can also register on race day at the school from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

In addition to the 5K race, there will also be a one mile fun run available.
