Bellet, Tigers win weekend tourney

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Dakota Wesleyan University senior golfer Dani Bellet picked up her first individual win of the women's golf spring season as she led the Tigers to their second team victory of the spring. The team won the Nebraska Wesleyan University Invite over the weekend in Lincoln, Neb.

DWU defeated second-place Morningside College by 10 strokes in the two-day event. Bellet defeated Morningside's Sophie Peters by two strokes to claim the individual title.

Dakota Wesleyan's Kamie Roesler finished in sixth place over the weekend. The team had two other golfers finish in the top 10. Chelsea Burback finished eighth and Talia Peters finished 10th.

Former DWU track star to compete in Boston Marathon

Thomas Madut, a 2010 Dakota Wesleyan University graduate and 2012 DWU master's graduate, is participating in the 116th Boston Marathon on April 16.

Madut, an NAIA All-American, ran for Dakota Wesleyan's track and cross country teams. He was a 2010 NAIA Outdoor National Meet Qualifier and took third place in the men's full marathon at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

DWU men's golf takes second place in Hastings

HASTINGS, Neb. -- In its second outing of the spring season, the Dakota Wesleyan men's golf team finished seventh place at the Hastings Invite Monday in Hastings, Neb.

The Tigers finished one stroke behind Southeast Community College in the one-day event, with a score of 307. DWU golfer Broderick Baker, playing for the JV team, had the second-best score on the day with a round of 75.

Mitchell man bowls his fourth perfect game

Scott Larson, of Mitchell, bowled his fourth 300 game Monday night at Village Bowl in Mitchell.

Larson, who sports a 207 average, got his perfect game in the final game of his four-game series. He finished the series with a score of 1,004 after games of 279, 220, 205 and 300.

"I know on the other (perfect games) I've been nervous," Larson said. "I tried to keep myself calm. It must have worked."
