Sports briefs: Marlin bantam team wins two

Marlins get 2 wins over weekend

The Mitchell Marlins boys' bantam hockey team picked up two wins over the weekend.

The Marlins defeated Yankton 8-0 on Friday in Mitchell and went on the road to beat Brookings 5-2 on Saturday.

Jacob Cersosimo had a hat trick in Friday's game. Jordan Grosdidier had two goals and Croix Erickson, Matt Muth and Alex Murtha each added a goal.

Mitchell goalie Tate Sutherland recorded the shutout with eight saves.

On Saturday, five Mitchell players recorded a goal, including Cole Koons, Dustin Hughes, Kaleb Niehoff, Grosdidier and Jacob Rice. Sutherland made 25 saves on 27 shots faced.

Carlson bowls 808 series Monday

Todd Carlson, Mitchell, bowled an 808 for his series in the Universal League at the Village Bowl Monday.

Carlson, who bowls for Thirsty's Casino, had game scores 289, 242, and 277. Carlson's handicap is 0.
