Police: Mitchell man arrested for stabbing, killing person early Tuesday morning

OUR VIEW: Week in review: the best, worst

CHEERS to the annual indoor rodeo at the Corn Palace. We thought it was a great idea back when it was just talk. Then, we loved it when we actually saw a rodeo being held inside the World’s Only. Now, we hope it’ll be around for a long time.

What a great way to spend a dreary weekend — indoors, watching great cowboys ride top bulls and broncs.

CHEERS to the crazy weather that hit the region last week. Cheers to that kind of junk?

Well, yes, because without a good dousing of the Black Hills, fire danger continues throughout the late fall and winter.

It’ll be tough to get a blaze started out there now, after more than three feet of snow fell in some places. Maybe it would have been a bit nicer if it could have held off a few more weeks, but moisture is moisture.

HISSES to the shutdown of the federal government. This is the result of a stupid meltdown of communication. Get it together, get it fixed and let’s get on with life.

CHEERS to the people who help others during harvest season. It seems that every year, we hear about various acts of kindness during the harvest, and this year isn’t any different.

Last week, neighbors and friends helped out Alan Greenway, a Mount Vernon-area farmer who is battling leukemia.

We extend a thank you to everyone who helps in this way, whether it was last week at the Greenway farm or another farmstead in this great state. South Dakotans are good people, for so many reasons.
