Gene Knigge, 85, White Lake, SD died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 6, at the United Methodist Church in White Lake. Burial will be in the White Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Gene Francis Knigge was born November 18, 1932 in Plankinton to Carl and Esther (Bannick) Knigge. He attended Patton Country School and graduated from Wessington Springs High School. He served the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Following the service Gene farmed in the White Lake area. On November 20, 1959 he married Marge Wait at the United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs.
He is survived by two his two daughters: Robin Knigge and Renee (Ed) Peters, grandson, Blake Peters all of White Lake, four sisters: Laverne Berg of Texas, Betty Elias of Rapid City, Ruby Parmely of Miller, Lois Wolf of Parkston and one brother, Dennis (Marcie) Knigge of Iowa.
